Wendy on the 1999 album?!?!

I went to allmusic.com to see what albums Wendy has been involved in and was surprised to see they give Wendy credit for Guitar, Percussion and Vocals on the 1999 album?!!? I thought Wendy didn't join Prince's band until AFTER the 1999 album was released and joined the band in late 83 when the group was developing the Purple Rain project?

I dont have the 1999 CD handy, so is she in the credits for the album or am I missing something, I was pretty sure that for the 1999 project, that spot was being played by Dez or Prince?

I thought the same thing.

I'm looking at the 1999 credits and Wendy is mentioned as one of the background singers on "Free" but that's it.

She joined the band in 83 but she was around before that hanging out with Lisa on the road. She sang background vocals on Free and that is her ONLY involvement on the 1999 album.

Yep and she also cut the vocals with Lisa on "Irrisitable Bitch", also from 83. She started hanging around P as early as late 81, through Lisa, on the Controversy tour. So she was definately around when P started cutting the 1999 album.

And in NO WAY taking away from Dez' skills, because he was down w/ P from DAY ONE. And, from what I'm told, he declined to do three more yrs. w/ P anyway. But that Houston show was a BEAST!!!!! Anyone who has it, check out the end of "Automatic".....HMMMMM!!!!!

Dez's guitar solos in the Houston show were ferocious! At that time,I think he was a better guitar player than Prince.

Wee, it seems to me that someone took a solo out of turn at the end of "Automatic". Prince jumped off TWO banks of speakers like a "crimefighter", calmly walked over to Dez & stood over him w/a tambourine in his hand like "Mmmm-hmmmm. Finish playin' that s**t. Then jumped over him w/the tambourine cueing the band to end the song. but at the same time, it looked like an Ike & Tina moment. Only it was Prince & Dez. And I'm NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW THIS "MOMENT"!!!!!
