I couldn't believe what I was hearing yesterday evening in my car. I was listening to Wendy Williams, on-air, nationally syndicated radio personality and I hear her introduce Tamar.

I'm thinking, what the hell is she doing on this show? And Wendy was far from kind. I mean, her side-kick, Charlymain (sp?) asked her right out of the gate, "Is that a wig." To which Tamar responded, "Yes. I'm keeping it real with you." Wendy said, "Damn, you could have at least asked her if it was a weave." To which Charlymain responded, "because it's crooked." And they the two of them laughed.

Some cringe-worthy moments.. Charlymain asked her if she wears deoderant, and Wendy said it because she's such a "natural" girl, not a traditional Prince girl (but that she was pretty)... They asked if she ever played basketball with Prince, to which she responded that she had recently. He asked if Prince made her pancakes afterward, and she didn't get the reference... This was just ridiculous. I felt like this was high school and Wendy was the cafeteria bully.

She wasn't on long, but they did ask her about her time with the pre-Destiny's Child band with Beyonce back in the day.. Flyte Tyme. She also mentioned something I didn't know. Which is that when she was 14, her cousin slipped Mr. Hayes a tape of her performing. He gave it to Prince and he flew her out to PP and recorded "Over the Rainbow." Wendy didn't delve into this more, but I thought it was an interesting tidbit.

What made me mad was that Wendy is always talking about how Prince is not hot, but that "he will always have his loyal fan base." It's so dismissive and rude, really. Wendy said that there were no calls for Tamar and she ended the interview shortly thereafter. Let me say that I was trying to call in but I couldn't get through.

I told Tamar last night at the Butter gig that I thought Wendy was an a**hole to her, and I think she appreciated that.

I do love to listen to WW, I have to honestly say. But she really engaged in unnecessary mean-ness with Tamar.

You listen to Wendy Williams? They could not pay me enough money to listen to that trash.

That was dumb to send her on there anyway. Of all shows to send her to, they picked WW.

I wonder why she was on there anyway. I know her album is out 8/29, but I haven't heard of any single being released.

Wendy Williams doesn't take artists seriously - when they come on her show, they're the punchline. Tamar's people should've known that.

The saddest/most surreal thing is, that people - a LOT of people - actually call her for advice during "Wendy Williams' Advice Hour"

As for Mayte, supposedly it went like this: in July 1990, her mother sent to Prince a video of Mayte's dancing. Prince was so impressed by it he asked for more and requested a meeting, and the rest as they say is history.

I don't recalled Wendy ever been nice to her guests.

It seems like she just walks all over celebs and they do nothing. She tries to slip in backhanded compliments or sly insults like the wig and deoderant comments whenever she can. That's why I liked Whitney's interview with her. Every time she did that she got her ass handed to her by Whitney and Whitney let NOTHING slide past her. She's one condescending beyotch. It was because Angie and Q-Tip were dating briefly and Wendy sort of blurted out their business on air. Angie got pissed and they had it out at the ladies bathroom at Hot 97 and Angie beated her up. This was coming from people who was there. That was one of the reasons why Wendy was fired from Hot 97 among with having a big mouth. Ironically Wendy had called Q-Tip gay earlier on.
Anyway, I don't know why either that Tamar was on her show or on that radio station in the first place. Their core listeners wouldn't care for Tamar anyway.
I am glad that Whitney and Angie didn't took shit from Wendy though.

My question about Tamar was whether she had 2 separate introductions to Prince. The one that came about through her uncle and another one through Gyrls Time.

She recorded another song with Prince called "On Our Own." Was that song recorded the same time she recorded "Over The Rainbow?"
