I loved both songs when they came out and still do.
But when I put together a comp. of tracks for my ride,
I usually go for The Time over Sheila E.

"777-9311" has that fat-ass bass line.
I look like an idiot when that comes on, bobbin' my head in traffic.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I love both songs but in my opinion The Glamourous Life is the winner. I think it's aged the best. And if Shelia didn't do this song at the concert I would have been disappointed. I Love this freakin song!!! Ah!!!

That phone number actually belonged to Dez Dickerson in real life... Practical joker Prince decided to turn it into the title of a song and, afterwards, all hell broke loose at the Dickerson household because people wouldn't stop calling Dez's number...

I still enjoy 'Grace' even more than '777-9311', though.

It difficult to pick cause they are both so funky. If I had to choose I'd pick The Glamorous Life, cause it has so many layers...the latin feel with the Prince MN sound which still sounds great today. Sheila E is da bomb and that video clip was sooooo cool. When I was a kid I wanted to be Sheila E...she was so glamorous, had pefect hair but played those drums like nobody's business! IMO she was the best Prince drummer period!

This song is too funky...even though it sounds a little dated now.
