Jill Jones This talent is still someone's album I have yet to hear. I've only heard "Mia Bocca," "G-Spot" and a fonky-ass jam on HolyRiverRadio that I can't remember the name of. Now, I'm DYING to hear the rest of the album.
Alan Leeds was right in the interview a few months back. Jill Jones was a criminally underrated talent. I've just now come to learn it with some teases. I'm sure the majority of the ORG can confirm. Ooh, little darlin' if you're

Chances are that "fonky-ass jam" was indeed "Violet Blue". One of the best, if not THE BEST protege' since The Time, but whose CD/LP got treated as a "tax writeoff". A damn shame, cuz the whole CD/LP is DOPE!!!!!

Violet blue is definitely my favorite. The lyrics are really cool.
I love the whole album too..... from the intro taken from Trip and A half to the actual song. Jill rocks

Bought it on cassette back in 87, I have an ORIGINAL CD and 2 copies of the vinyl!!!!! Definitely the best kept secret or most mis-used protege, depending on how u look at it.

Jill is the most underrated P/girl! She can really throw down vocally and worth listening to.

I have it on 2 original cassettes, a CDDR someone made for me back in the 90's before CD burners were common, and finally got an official CD on ebay for like $60

I have it on vinyl. I wish I had it on cd, but whenever I see it on ebay it's a little out of my price range for a single cd.

"Violet Blue" alone is worth the price of the CD on eBay, in my opinion.
The orchestra, the Linn, the drama, and those perfect velvet horns. The horn work is extremely intricate and beautiful and if you listen, does a kind of call-and-response with Jill's vocals. Flawless protege song, up there with The Glamorous Life and The Screams of Passion in my top five. ...: s l o w l y c a n d l e b u r n s :...

Just heard it...
...and I'm in love with it. Violet Blue is just delicious. Definitely my favorite track, by far. The horns and saxophone just mesh so perfectly with it. That and Jill's opening vocal sends chills down my spin, it's so soulful. The funky-ass song that I heard on Holy River Radio a few weeks back turned out to be All Day, All Night, another track I'm lovin'. The Housequake-esque beat makes it all the more funkier, Jill was having fun with this one! Yeah, this album is up there in my favorites now. It's just too funky. Shame it was sat on the whole time. Ooh, little darlin' if you're
