Sheila E's Hold Me You know I really love this song. After 15 years I still like it. I was so surprised when I first heard it on the radio. I was expecting a fast paced song with some serious percussion on it and then out of left field comes this song...A BALLAD. I love Sheila's vocals on this track and the song was arranged very well arranged and what.. NO PRINCE to found on it anywhere. This may be my favorite song by her.
Additionally, I love the fact there was no video for this song. It forced me to use my imagination. Great lead off single from Sheila's third album. This song went to number #3 on Billbaord's R&B charts in 1987. | |

I love this song, too! It's one of my all time favorites by her. I love how the vocals gently push the melody along. It's such a "soft" song that it would have been easy to over do it and loose the urgency of the lyrics. | |

Shelia's work is just wonderful,but I do wish there was a video for this song. I wish she would play more cause she rocked the house the 2nd night at the Celebration. Boy can she Beat those Drums! She's one Hell of a Percussionist and I always liked her style. | |

I love this song and I too was surprised to hear a ballad from her,as the first single from her album.When the radio DJ announced that he was gonna play her new song,I expected a percussion-heavy dance track a'la "The Glamorous Life".Not only is "Hold Me" a nice,well-written tune,but Sheila really holds her own as a vocalist.She's no Whitney Houston,but her vocal delivery on this song was powerful and impressive. | |

My wife does not like Sheila E (and yet, I still married the crazy woman)...but she likes Hold Me.
I think Sheila also would've done well if she had released Promise Me Love from the Sex Cymbal CD...it's jazzier and more refined than Hold Me. "...I breathe when you breathe, I bleed when you bleed...Paradise Gardens..." By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! | |

I have all her albums, she was and is so awesome. When I was a kid I wanted to be her...she was pretty, glamorous had great hair and could play those drums like nobody's business. She had more talent in her pinky finger than any of those puppets we see today...and IMO she was and IS the best Prince drummer cause of her versitility.My favourite album of her's is Romance 1600...and my fav songs of her are:
