Madhouse question..

Madhouse 8 and 16 were conceived written and performed by Madhouse
Outside of Leeds on sax, do we know who else was in Madhouse?...or, did Prince play all the other instruments?

I don't think article is totally correct.

I'm pretty sure in the Vault it says that Madhouse 8 is just Prince and Eric alone.

Later for Madhouse 16 and Sheila and Levi and Fink joined them for some cuts, and for the live opening set in the European SOTT tour (or Lovesexy Tour).

woogiebear

Met Eric Leed when Sheila E. & the E-Train played in Buffalo. I pretty much guessed that Prince played drums on 8, and Sheila played on 16. He smirked at me. Also, Fink and Levi Seacer. Tony M., Damon Dickson and Kirky J. were the dancers in the videos.

According to The Vault, as regards 8:

No musicians were credited on Madhouse's debut album and the tracks were listed simply as Madhouse compositions. Prince did in fact play a very active role in Madhouse. Indeed, he came up eith the overall concept and most of the musical ideas, and he plays acoustic driums, bass and keyboard. Eric played saxophone and flute. The songs are listed as Madhouse compositions at the Library of Congress, but it is Prince who receives all songwriting royalities.

as regards 16:

Madhouse's second album listed as the members of the group Levi Seacer Jr. Dr. Fink, Eric Leeds, and John Lewis on drums. However, as with 8, the credits were intentionally misleading and the album was very much a Prince project. Lewis did not have anything to do with the recording and Fink's input was minimal. Five of the eight tracks are solo performances by Prince with saxophone and fllute contributions by Eric Leeds and a synth solo by Fink on 'Sixteen'. The remaining three tracks, "Ten" "Eleven" and "Fifteen" feature a line-up consisting of Prince (keyboard) Leeds (saxophone) Seacer (bass) and Shiela E. (drums)"

The tracks featuring the quartet are listed at the Library of Congress as being written by the four musicians, while the others are credited to Prince (as Madhouse) with the exception of 'Sixteen' which was penned by Prince in collaboration with Leeds.
