This has bugged me for a long time... listen to "Ice Cream Castles" (the song) and there are a couple of parts where Morris is calling out the "white girls" chant:

"White girls (uh)... black girls (uh)... ornamentals!"

Is Morris (and Prince I guess) actually calling "Oriental" girls... "ornamentals"?

This has probably been discussed before but not that I've seen... if that's the inference it would be pretty offensive to Asian women.

Anyone else hear this?

DEFINATELY hear this...was listening to the CD recently in the car & it was buggin' the HELL out'a me! It just didn't sound right, notwithstanding the possibility of an insult or anything. It just sounded so...cringeworthy.

is he saying that any woman -- whether black or white, is simply ornamental? that would be quite fitting for the Morris Day persona.

I ran a thread on here about this very song and it's inter-racial love context. Didn't mention the "ornamentals" line but wouldn't doubt it's a play on words.
