my theory is, tony fucked carmen without P's permission (tony helped out quite alot on ms. electra's album), so Prince fired him. Of course, tony played hard ball with prince, taking damon d with him. It was prince's loss, just like when he turned down a then unknown devante swing.

You know what is amazing to me? How many Prince songs/outakes I love that Tony M has a very big part of. It's not really that I like Tony M all that much but he just makes appearances in some of my favorites like...Gangster Glam/Gangster Glam Groove 7 inch/ The Max/ Something funky/Brother with a purpose...hmmm there is alot.

That's kind of sad if it is - I figured he still did something music-related to some small degree, but if this is him, I guess not.

For Tony;
as I put the mmmmm in mess for Prince I would have worn a dress that was because I was so desssss-perate to get on I let him treat me a like a son i had to call him daddy and wash his father's caddy. he wore suspenders with his swimmin' trunks I made him think that it looked crunk. I coulda been a contender instead I ended up his bartender I kept his boots dry while he took a dip He aint even leave me a tip. Dancing in a circle with them wild "game boys" Looked like a gang of moochers playing with Prince's toys After years of not getting no play I had to sue to make him pay Now only Prince fans know my name what a muthafuckin shame. Appreciate Tony M??? Tony is the greatest! He makes the best burgers I'v ever gotten from McDonald's!
Oh I'm just kidding. Out of all the rappers Prince had, he was probably the best in my opinion. He stood out against the others who all seemed to sound alike to me.

I think there are 2 media where one can see what Tony M brings to the party, and these were startlingly highlighted to me only yesterday... Let me elaborate.
-on record, I think there is a place for his style of performance, his 'smooth' rapping does actually add something positive to Carmen's album, Goldnigga and in places D&P (I actually like his bit on Willing and Able). (This is where yesterday's 'discovery' comes in) -in concert - WTF was Prince thinking! I just listened to a D&P boot for the first time in say 8-10 yrs and could not believe how offended I was by the incessant shouting (not rapping!) that intruded what was otherwise a great concert. - He ruined it with all the 'Ho,Ho', 'Party over there', 'Word up P' and the unintelligible shouting of lyrics over great songs such as Daddy Pop, Gett Off, Live 4 Love and the godawful version of The Flow. Why would an otherwise consummate performer such as Prince, usually so considerate to his fans, subject us to that shit? Although not a big rap fan, I do see as a style of music it has it's place. However the only place for Tony M is away from a mic...
