If memory serves, Stevie Nicks was inspired by Little Red Corvette and felt she had borrowed the melody of that song enough to give Prince co-writing credit. He is supposed to have contributed some keyboards only, as you say.

And yeah prince came in and did a synth and they say he came in played for anout 20 minites and left.

thanks, shame about the guitar bit at the end, i love that bit. don't you just hate it when you have a fave bit in a prince related track and you find out prince didn't actually have any involvement with it. whilst we're on the subject then, what exactly did prince do on the common star 69 track? i'd love it if he was responsible for all the strange vibes and stuff, thats a great track.

Prince came in and played the memorable keyboard riffs and left after 20 some odd minutes...Stevie ended up keeping the groove and thanked him for giving the track its signature sound...That's the man's contribution to "Stand Back..."

The story behind the song used to be on Stevie's website, but I didn't find it there today in order to copy the info to here.

I thought they knew each other better than that. I once heard a quote from Stevie where she said, "Me and Prince have a lot in common. We both like flouncing around the house in chiffon!"

Is that a bait for me, sos? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Stevie and P knew each other awhile before he cut "Stand Back". He first met her in 78 while he was cutting his debut album. They hung out after a few shows on the 1999 tour as well. Stevie said that P drove her to one of her shows and said that P drove like a lunatic. She adored "Little Red Corvette" and wanted a cut like that. P played keys and also in my opinion, guitar. The story was he came in, played the keyboard part using just 2 fingers, and left.
Stevie said on tour even with 2 keyboard players, her band can't recreate it theh way Prince did

I once heard that Stevie walked out of a screening of "Purple Rain".She left at the part where Prince slaps Apollonia.I guess the violence disturbed her?
