Jesse Johnson and Morris Day's solo careers.

Compare the two, both commercially and musically. As much of a Morris Day as I am, I'd have to say Jesse's. The overall music is better, much more of a well-rounded sound musically. Morris's albums are good in spurts, but don't compare to Jesse's.

I agree,Jesse's solo albums are superior to Morris'.Jesses' second album 'Shockadelica' is amazing....a funk classic! I never was all that impressed with Morris' solo albums.Too many damn synthesizers! The songs all sound alike.

except for garanteed (Morris Day)

i think this album was slept on.(i know some of the songs were.)

3 really good songs from him(deeper, garanteed and who's that girl)..you could say that it filled in the "al.b sure" gap in the early 90's(new jack.kyle west kinda vibe)
as for the others well i can't say.i need to hear them cool

Wow, you're the only other person I know here at the org who likes "Guaranteed." I dig that entire album.

It is a tough choice since I liked their both solo careers but I have to choose Jesse Johnson on this one.

"deeper" would definitely get people on the dance floor!.i was bumpin'it last night. the c.d hasn't left my player since i got it.

"deeper.deeper...the love i have is so strong...
my love is brighter, tighter.that's why i sing this song" music

i'm tellin' ya'll...

morris brought it vocally with this one!.thumbs up!

and the title track?....I WANT THAT BEAT FOR MYSELF!.headbang

kick -ass beat..
if money were no object (for me) i would pay for that master tape for the instrumental so i can use it for my debut c.d.

Jesse won this round. Jesse was no great vocalist. But despite his limitations, he still managed to churn out some serious jams. CRAZAY! FOOL'S PARADISE! BLACK IN AMERICA! I WANT MY GIRL! Jesse actually had a greatest hits cd. Morris greatest hits were mostly from the Time. I dig Mo though. But Jesse took him to school...

As much as i dig Morris, jesse definetly had a better solo career. That shit is tight. Morris had some jams, but if you go for the overal album feel, jesse wins that shit easily

Try by 100,000 miles. It's not even close. Jesse is musically superior to Morris. Morris is basically all show and very little substance. Hell, just take J.J.'s "Black in America" ...where's Morris' social commentary song? Nuff said.
