Nona Hendryx: "Baby Go-Go"

what the fuck? I was checking out Prince Related Artists lyric site...

and it lists "Baby Go-Go" as recorded by Nona Hendryx.

Now ain't this a trip, comin' up as a Prince fan in the internet age, wouldn't you know I heard Prince's demo of this song years ago and to this day haven't even heard the officially released rendition of this track?

1987 eh? hmmm

I heard Nona's version back in 1987.It features Mavis Staples on background vocals.I don't think it became a huge smash, but it got some airplay on R&B radio stations.

I gotta find this cd. I remember Hendryx back in the day. But my favorite of hers was that song, "I move and I go, in time fast or slow; I move through doors..." --- I forget the name of the song..

No, but it was on the same album. Too bad I can't remember, I loved that song. I'll have to look for it online somewhere...I'll get back with you...thanks for trying to help.

Funny, cuz I haven't heard the version sung by Prince by far. Pleas note that the single-mix (7-inch) differs from the version released on the album. It's much better!

Best place to pick this up is on the 'symbolism' compilation CD, which for those of you who don't own is a nice little CD with prince songs written for other people as well as covers of prince songs. Other tracks include The Sex Of It, Love Thy Will Be Done, I Hear Your Voice etc.

4 those in the know, this cd is great but well sigh when we think of what might have been....
