What was the tension between Sheila E and Robin about? Also what did you think of Sheila E personally? And what do you think about the unconfirmed rumors about her sexual orientation

lol Honey, they ain't unconfirmed. Just un-believed by some orgers and fans who don't know. Let me shut up before we lose another thread. Hi, Artpal. wink

lol omfg boxed

Robin told us stories about how Sheila E and Prince had had a falling out and how she got kicked out of his club once. I don't remember the details. Anyway, Robin's thinking was that Sheila's days were numbered and that Robin was replacing Sheila as the number one protege. cool She thought Sheila came to our rehearsal to scope out the competition. When we discussed the whole "snubbing" incident afterwards, Robin kept saying that Sheila was an "old lady" and that Robin was the next one up. I don't know Sheila's side of the story - I just know what Robin said.

About Diamond and Pearl - remember, their existence was inspired by the fact that Robin and Bassdame looked alike. So every time Robin saw D&P she probably felt flattered that they were there because of her. I really didn't get a sense they were threatening to her. After all, they were just dancers and she was more of a front performer. So Sheila was more the rival than D&P.

I thought Sheila was snobby when we met her, but I understand that her Christianity has really changed her since then. You can read about our meeting her and other stories on the original thread http://www.prince.org/msg/5/143228

As far as your third question is concerned, I know that she dated Prince - so whatever that says to you ... wink

Vanity 6, I'm working hard on the movie trailer. It should be up by this weekend. I'll put a clip of Bassdame's interview after it especially for you Prince fans. The film itself will probably be ready summer or fall. Thanks for your interest! smile

Actually, according to many studies, there tend to be certain characteristics that define a beautiful face and body.

Maybe the rivalry was more on Robins part because Sheila apparently had/has no problem with Carmen Electra. They're still friendly.

Big eyes, smaller jaw, facial symmetry, good smooth skin, a waist to hip ratio of 7:10 (or more exaggerated). Lips fuller like those of a 14 year old. Supposedly, the peak beauty of women occurs at age 24. This is all according to studies summarized in the book "Survival of the Prettiest" by Nancy Etcoff.

Ironically, men tend to like more average sized women rather than the Kate Moss skinny look in real life. Well, they like a variety of sizes, as long as the hip waist ratio is about 7:10.

It all has to do with who seems the most likely to reproduce healthy children. Those characterestics send signals to men that this woman is the most fertile and healthy.

Sorry I haven't posted the trailer yet. After some of my filmaker peers reviewed it, I decided to make some changes. It might take a month or so.

hey now.. i didn't see the interview you guys are talking about. i do know that this was the around the time when rp must've seen the writing on the wall. remember with the coming of dp ..that left rp as old news. we had all left and shortly thereafter rp was in la. so maybe more that race you saw inevitability written on her face. also believe me rp never met a woman i don't care what color that she thought had anything on her physically. also she is a take control of the room kind of woman and probably wasn't about to let those two take up more space than they deserve. she had earned her right to comment on prince those others were newbies.
later...

Hi bassdame!

Yes Robin shouldn't have felt intimidated by anyone. She was very sexy! I guess I was just wondering out loud what Prince must have been thinking.

Welcome Venus! wave

You know, Bassdame does have a point. If Robin Power was dominating that Joan Rivers interview it is because she always dominates any group she's in. That's in addition to the fact that she had known Prince much longer than D&P did.
