She said no to Prince?

Does anyone know all of the celebrities that have turned Prince down.

I know both LaToya Jackson and Patrice Rushen have turned him down, but who else.
PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever

***Joni Mitchell---in 1986,Prince offered her a song called "Emotional Pump" but she turned it down, saying "It's a hit...for somebody else".

***Lisa Stansfield---in the early 90s,Prince offered her a few songs, but she turned him down, saying "I'm a fan of his,but his reputation takes a nosedive when it comes to working with female artists".Apparently, she didn't wanna be known as just another "Prince girl".

***James Brown---in the mid-80s,Prince offered James a song (I think it was "Chocolate"?),but he turned it down.

***Madonna---Prince wanted her to co-star with him in 'Graffiti Bridge',but she took one look at the script and refused.Interestingly,he also wanted her to co-star in 'Under The Cherry Moon' with him,but once again, she wasn't interested.

In 1988,Prince asked Mica Paris to join his band. She refused because she was busy working on her OWN debut album, which includes the Prince-written "If I Love U 2Nite".

Not a good move. It took her 22 years to get another successful role. The L Word. Yeah, I know she did 'Devil in a blue dress' one of my favs and a ton of straight to DVD movies.

Actually I think it was a good idea I mean she still has her degree, and Purple Rain didn't blow up anybody's career but Prince non of the women in the movie went on to other sucessful movies. I wish they would do a Where Are They Now? on the cast of Purple Rain. Jennifer Beals was the "it" girl at that time. I think that is why he wanted her in the movie, she was probably leary of his reputation. Also I love Devil in a blue dress to.

Correction, Mica's debut album was already released before she even attended the Camden Palace gig and connected with Prince - I know, I was a fan of hers before that event even happened and had bought her album upon its release in 1988! It was re-released in 1989 after the success of 'My One Temptation' (it hit the top ten if memory serves me correctly - 3 further singles were released from that album in '88 too), and prior to the release of 'Contribution' (1990) which was her 2nd album, and the one that contained the Prince-penned 'If I Love U 2nite'.

It's a real shame that Mica never got the props she so richly deserved - I still think 'So Good' stands up today, it's a vibrant, hidden gem of an album, and far superior to 'Contribution'.

Ahh a fan of devil in the blue dress. You have great taste smile
Yes, Prince was the only one who blew up from purple rain. Everyone in purple rain was basically unknown. But, Jennifer was in "flashdance" it was a huge movie then she did the flop "The Bride" with Sting. She was in Yale when she did "The Bride". Purple Rain would have been a better follow up role for her. She also turned down "Pretty in pink"(I think thats the title) another hit. The she married a director and did an indie movie "In the soup". She stated in a interview. Her mother put up the money for the film.

Yeah, that is bullshit. Susannah could barely play guitar in The Bangles, let alone play in ANY lineup of P's. And second, I believe P got with her anyways. It's easy for her to say some shit like that after the act.

Really? I was always under the impression he tried and him giving her Manic Monday his way of courting her but I always thought she rebuffed his advances. (And if she did well than she is stupid!)

Nah, "Manic Monday" was pure business. He would have done that anyways, cuz he knew that he could get more mileage out of the song with The Bangles doing it than with Apples6. He didn't need to give a woman a song to try to sleep with her.

Don't forget about Vanessa Williams passing on "Eternity". It then was offered to Sheena Easton - which she recorded and sounded great. Then it went to Chaka Khan, which sounded like shit.

I heard that he wrote a song for Dale Bozzio the lead singer for Missing Persons. She took the song but turned down his advances for anything more. She had a boyfriend at the time.. And THANK THE LORD that Prince had the good sense to give "Manic Monday" to the Bangles not Appolonia 6. They would've screwed that song up.
