A big part of The Glamorous Life song and album is the live percussion being played on it, by Sheila herself. Yes the main beats are Linn programs, but the timbale, cowbell, cymbal work etc. is Sheila jamming away. I can't even imagine what TGL or Oliver's house would've sounded like WITHOUT her percussion....i.e. if they had gone on Apple's or Vanity's album.

Definitely the Vanity 6 album. Not only is it simply more fun than Sheila's album, but it's actually a groundbreaking album. The New Wave,minimalist,electro-funk sounds on tracks like "Drive Me Wild" and "Make-Up" were totally fresh and innovative back in 1982."If A Girl Answers (Don't Hang Up)" could almost be considered an early rap track, performed by females.
Sheila's 'The Glamourous Life' album is good, but it feels rushed,as if it was recorded too quickly.Only the title track could be considered a classic song.

Oh man... Sheila E hands down. I dig Vanity... God knows I do. But the reality is I can only tolerate Vanity's voice for one song and that's "Nasty Girl." The rest of the album ("Vanity 6") is a joke. With Sheila, I know I am getting some real talent. She didn't really begin to shine until "Romance 1600." I tried listening to Vanity's "Wild Animal" and "Skin on Skin" records and wanted to toss them outta my window! (LOL)

Vocally,Sheila is only a slightly better vocalist than Vanity But yeah,Sheila is obviously more musically talented overall.

It's not even close really. V6 was filler for the most part while Sheila did her thang on the drums. No contest. = Sheila. "Free yo mind and yo ass will follow" - George Clinton
