Sheila E. and Sheena Easton now. Not only do Sheila and Sheena have similar names but they also have similar albums.
They've changed thier sounds from 20 years ago and almost have a classical sound now. They'r enot the racey hot pop stars they were 20 years ago. They sound almost like Frank Sinatra or some lounge singers. I just wanna know why. How could you give up Glamorous Life and Sugar Walls for some 40s type sounding music? Working up a purple sweat.

One simple word...GROWTH.
Why would you want to stay where you were 20 years ago? I haven't heard either one of these newer releases but i'd hope they both would have made some musical progress. That's what most "musicians" strive for. Now if your goal is to be a celebrity as opposed to a musician, that's a different story. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I can C Sheila singing much of her old material but some of it (like Toy Box)might b2 racey now that she's older. Sheena might b2 old 2b singing Sugar Walls, same 4 Apollonia singing Sex Shooter, Vanity singing Wet Dream, Madonna singing Like A Virgin and Prince singing Sister. I read an article about Mavis Staples when she found out Prince had some material 4 her, she was kinda worried about what he would want her 2 sound like because she was 2 old sing songs like he had written 4 other females.

I don't know if this was a serious post or not, but as TA said..... there is a thing called "Growth".
In addition, Sheila's live set still include Glamrous Life, Love Bizarre, Oliver's House.... and gets even funkier than she did back in the 80's. The musical direction is extremely tight, and she incorporates a jazzy, funky, Latin vibe into it. You need to check it out live. I admit her last 2 studio albums were more "quiet jazz" or adult contempo...I only own one of them which is shocking cuz I own evertyhing else she did...but that was her E-Train thing which was goign for that feel I guess. I just learned a few weeksk Sheena Easton did this whole album of dance song covers back in 2003 or something.... so she isn't just doing standards and slow music either.

In the mid-80s,some people got Sheena and Sheila mixed up.The fact that Prince was involved (musically) with both of them only added to the confusion.I remember the first time I heard "Sugar Walls" on the radio. The DJ mistakenly said it was a new Sheila E. song

Last I saw Sheila E., she was doin a guest spot on a live gospel record by a dude named Tonex, who I can only describe as Prince's younger brother who skipped straight to the Jesus, minus the detour into Darlin Nikki's castle. She looks hot. I took a picture with her at the Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute Gala when I was 16. I thought she was gorgeous.

Not to mention Sheila E has more talent in her little pinky than Sheena ever will. ~And even when I'm right, I'll be wrong...it's Automatic too.

Sorry tbag - WRONG! Sheena Easton is a very talented singer and performer. She has the technical ability and cred to back it up. Do not make the stupid mistake of putting Sheena in the same category as artists like Apollonia, Vanity and Carmen Electra. Because Sheena has considerable vocal ability.
Sheila E. is a very talented musician just in a different way. She plays instruments, writes/produces music, sings, etc. They're different artists but there is room for both. The only thing you can even really compare them on is vocal ability which Sheena is of course more gifted. But Sheena doesn't produce music and play multi instruments either...

I don't know about SHEENA EASTON but SHELIA is with the YOUNGER CROWD and With RAP or HIP HOPPERS playing DRUMS. I think at ANY AGE a WOMEN SHOULD REMAIN SEXY. In FACT anybody SHOULD. Ya don't have to give up on SEX OR SEXINESS...DAMN some SENIOR CITIZENS are PIGS. But Shelia has become a CHRISTIAN. When ya get INVOLVED in RELIGION ya USUALLY TONE down the SEX PART... Look at VANITY. Anyway, as long as the MUSIC is GOOD Does it Matter what TYPE it is? If you are a FAN of SOMEONE you Can ENJOY them EVEN if they aren't say TOP 40 ANYMORE.

Sheena Easton's last CD, 2001's FABULOUS on Univeral International was very very hip. It was not released in the US but was released throughout Europe, Australia and Japan. Sheena worked with Ian Masterson and Terry Ronald (Dannie Minogue, Kylie Minogue fame). The album was hi-nrg from start to finish and 100% top notch. The CD's first single "Giving Up Giving In" topped the UK Dance charts and made a big splash in Spain and Australia. The super-sexy video was played on MTV Europe and VH-1 Europe. The premise of the project was taking classic disco songs from the 70's and giving them a 21st century updating. Sheena introduced the music from the new CD in the ultra-hip London club GAY in the Astoria to a standing room only crowd. The performance was captured on tape by the BBC and segments were included in a prime-time documentary on Sheena Easton NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE. The CD's track listing is as follows:
1. Don't Leave Me This Way (originally by Thelma Houston) 2. Giving Up Giving In - the big single. The remix by Sleaze Sisters is awesome. (originally by The Three Degrees). 3. Love Is In Control (originally by Donna Summer). 4. That's What Friends Are For (originally by Denise Williams) this is not the shitty Dionne Warwick song. 5. Never Can Say Goodbye (originally by The Jackson 5) 6. Best of My Love (originally by the Emotions) 7. On My Own (originally by Patti Labelle/Michael McDonald) 8. I Cant Take My Eyes Off of You (originally by Franke Valli) 9. You Never Gave Me The Chance (new track) 10. Get Here To Me (new track) 11. I Need Your Lovin' (originally by Teena Marie)

Sheena Easton is playing in Las Vegas New Year's Eve. I'd rather see her to Sugar Walls and Strut than some jazzy soul ballads.
