Oh, Sheila

Does anybody know why Sheila E left Prince's camp after her self title CD? I noticed it wasn't a Paisley Park cd and had no Prince songs.

Sheila left the Prince camp in 1989,right after the 'Lovesexy' Tour.It was time to move on and Prince was putting together a new band. She left Paisley Park Records, signed directly to Warner Bros. and released the album 'Sex Cymbal' in 1990 and there was no Prince involvement.

I've always felt that being a Prince bandmember/protege is a blessing and a curse. It's great to be associated with somebody as talented and gifted as Prince, but the problem is,when they try to go solo, things usually don't work out as planned. Most of these people eventually fade away and we never really hear from them again.Sheila has done okay though. She's working with Prince again on a new CD.
