Eileen Murton ...producer of the very fine "Controversy" fanzine in the 80's. Where is she now, and what is she up to? R u out there, Eileen?,,,,

This gets asked about every six months or so on here.
Last heard, she was still living in Croydon, running a ticket agency, and very much happy to be away from all things "Prince". Haven't spoken to her now for a few years though so someone may be able to update.

Oh, I remember how Eileen used to get "the vapors" over everything Prince.
Surely she's still a fan even though she's not making Controversy any more? FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Well, surely she has realized by now that if she were to have any serious chance of scoring Prince, she'd have to lose a bit of weight and shower daily. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

I heard somewhere on this site that the magaine only turned out to be one issue? What happened? I'm sure the story is on thiws site somewhere but I don't know where to look.
Thanks. Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.

Thanks. Hardly. Controversy ran for a good few years. It was a great fanzine Prince submitted loads of great pics for it. [Edited 9/24/05 5:01am] if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Funny how she went from a sycophant to having nothing to do with him. Strange.

I loved Controversy magazine. I also loved Prince Family magazine (but that is another story!). I was sorry to see Eileen Murton go. I find it sad when someone like her who had a great product goes away.
I remember another magazine called PURPLE UNDERGROUND published by some jackass named Nathan White or something like that. Now that is someone that I am not sorry to see disappear from the Prince scene. He ripped off so many of us (I only got one issue of his magazine and it was LAME!). I wonder what scam he is up to now? lol. Come back Eileen!!! the official GIRLY GIRL of the Lesbian wing of the Prince.org. Accept no substitutes!!!

OMG I remember this woman. If it is the one I am thinking about she lived in Washington state or something? A friend told me that she went crazy on him shouting into the phone about being the queen of Paisley Park or something like that. Hahahaha. I always thought she had something to do with that Nathan White guy who was ripping people off. I guess when they realized there wasn't much money in Princely things, they moved on to the next mark. Just kidding! lol the official GIRLY GIRL of the Lesbian wing of the Prince.org. Accept no substitutes!!!

Eileen was never a sycophant, in fact she was the one person who would be extremely blunt to him and tell him to his face when he was acting like an idiot. If Prince had more people like Eileen around him rather than the fawning clowns he has now then things would be a lot better for the real fans.
