NO! Not hard at all. While Mayte was with Prince, she was a professional dancer. I've seen clips of her dancing, i don't know where she get's her choreography and inspiration from, she's modern freestyle disco, doesn't engage the audience as much as i'd like, but she sets an example of how to dance, and she can dance.

You know what I'd really like to see, some steady, uncut footage of Mayte dancing. I did notice that all of the Video's that she's in barely show her actually DANCING and they're too cut and choppy. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see an uncut bellydancing (besides the one of her at 8 years old!) or ballet performance.

I think you're right Cassandra.

In the old days of NPG he would always devote a spot to her in concert where she would do a bellydance solo, a kind of an interlude like what is referred to in the dance and theatre world as a "divertissement". They also used to play her dance performances on lobby monitors at Glam Slams in Miami and LA, but they were theatre type pieces. It was pretty apparent from those that she was classically trained and very adept at modern...like I said before- very Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane movement, looked like she some Josè Limon influenced stuff too...but besides that, alot of US videos and concerts don't really showcase old skool classical dance anymore; it's all about thrash and freestyle... with that, I think it's kinda hard for alot of folks out there to spot a dancers' ability for proper technique...if I had to have a preference though, I would go with Mayte's bellydancing and classical stuff over her freestyle dancing....

Interesting, thanks for the info! Unfortunately, I never got to see any of those... I wonder if she still does any dancing or if it's all acting/modeling now.
