Patty Kotero was married and got the Appolonia part because she looked like Vanity and could act. Some parts of purple rain had already been shoot with Vanity as appolonia. Second Denise was on drugs so bad she was under contract as a model and singer with both Motown and WB. The person that you see as his flame is usually not the person he is really dating at the time. Smile hate to bust that bubble. Most of the women paraded by the media as girlfriends were not they just helped his image.
He would not ask someone he was really dating to sign a contract to shut up. Because he would not date someone with a bad memory like an ex -junkie Vanity was dating Mikki Free during the Purple Rain thing.
