Andre's Cymone - Living in the New Wave

This album is pretty FUNKAY!!!!! Funkier than I expected. I thought it was going to be kind of spacy and too far out, but it's just the right of classic new wave and funk. Cool icy minneapolis funk.

Right now, I'm digging on "Kelly's Eyes" and I absolutley love "Lipstick Lover". He's a hell of a bassist too and they rythym guitar on this album is thick and rich.

This album is too cold, you can feel the chilly Minneapolis effect on this record

I haven't bought or even HEARD "Living in the New Wave", but i have "AC" and there's a song on there called "Lipstick Lover". Did he re-do the song on "AC" or are there just two different songs with the same title?

I have it. Bought it when it first came out. Have all of A.C.'s albums. It's a good album. U can hear that P and Andre were cut from the same cloth. My boy Andre was definately trying to distance himself from P in his music though. That's an awkward position to be in. To go against what u feel naturally. That was the case with his first two albums.

I like "New Wave" "Lipstick Lover" and "Kelly Eyes" too. But my favorite song by Andre is "What Are We Doing Here?". I forget which album it's on but that song is FUNKY!

I love this album. When I first bought it in 1982, I didn't care for it too much. Of course, at that time, Prince had out his "1999" album and an album by The Time and Vanity 6. In those days, Prince was "the shit" and at the time I was disappointed that Andre's album didn't sound more like Prince.

In the 1980s, I liked Andre's third album, "AC", much better. As a funk lover, I never used to listen to much rock or new wave to give it a chance. However, in the 1990s, when R&B music as a whole went straight to hell, I started getting more into rock. I also started pulling old albums that I hardly ever used to listen to and started listening to them. When I pulled "Living In The New Wave" out in the 1990s and listened to it, I instantly loved every track on the album and now it's my favorite Andre Cymone album.

My favorite track on the album is "So Fine". I love that intro.

"Lipstick Lover" is not on the "Living In The New Wave" album. It is only on the "AC" album. Jazzcherrymoon was just mentioning that he, or she, liked that song also.

However, the 45 of "Lipstick Lover" is slightly different than the album version. The 45 of "Kelly's Eyes" is also slightly different from the version on the "Living In The New Wave" album.

I remember the video! It was kind of like something DEVO would do. Very futuristic looking.

'A/C' is my favorite Andre Cymone album. It's probably less experimental than the first two albums, but I think it's his most consistent album.I really, really like the songs "Dance Electric","Pretty Wild Girl" (a kickass slow jam!),"The Book Of Love" and "Satisfaction".In a perfect world, this project would have turned him into a superstar.
