Z Cult Favorite - 3x2=6

I gotta show my love for this cut, Vanity 6's "3x2=6". I've always been in love with this song, ever since it was released back in P's glory year, 1982. When I was in Jr. High, I used to play this song damn near every morning when I was getting dressed and combing my hair before I go to school. Lots of folks I know can't stand this song. But I dig it to death. Sure, I know it's a retread of "Free", musically, but...still. I like Vanity's vocals, I dig the lyrics. It has a spooky fairy tale vibe to it. And P's guitar solo is killing. Even though it's short, he bit awfully hard off of Todd Rundgren. Anyway, who else out there digs this song?

eh.. this is 1 rare time
that we're on opposite ends blackg..

it does remind me A LITTLE of "free"
now that you mention it
(but free is a much better song)

the ONLY thing I like about this song
is that it refers to my favorite part of the female anatomy
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I think the whole albums hot. I really like Vanity's vocals and love some of the elctro -funk moments like Drive Me Wild and Make-Up. I think 3x2=6 is excellent as is the amazing title track. I loved Prince's edge in this period -he was cold as hell and I think this made Vanity 6 sound hot. I also think the Drive me Wild 12" is one of his best.

To be honest BG, That song just does'nt do it for me man. I do like "Drive Me Wild" and "If A Girl Answers(Don't Hang Up)". I also don't like that "Make-Up" song. That one sucks.

I agree with ThePunisher, the song is really bad as far as the singing. I do dig the whole spacey atmosphere, the weird synths going on and the guitar solo. I just think the lyrics are singing and Vanity's singing is absolutely horrid man!

I dig make up and Drive Me wild the most

Cannot get enough of this song, whenever I do play it, I play it over and over ad nauseum nod

I love the opening synths on it...it's so, so...I can't describe it sad

This is the only song on the Vanity 6 album that feels out of place. The main problem is,the girls' voices are just not suitable for ballads. The singing near the end (when they repeat the chorus several times) is absolutely horrid.Instead of this track,Prince should have given a hot funk number to close the album with.

Yeah, 81-early 84 is definately my favorite time of P's. No doubt about it. His best singing, playing, performing, etc., overall was during this period. Here was when he was his most focased.
