"A thread like this just goes to show that - like Prince's fans - Wendy & Lisa's fans can't agree on anything either. For the show of diversity in taste, I'd give it four stars, but someone dared to cast their vote without even having heard all the albums and that show of subjectivity renders any tally useless."

Im not a Prince newbie by any stretch of the imagination, but truth be told I am a bit of W&L newbie...
So answer me this: Which other artists would you compare W&Ls solo work to? Excluding Prince or associateds....

I can't think who I'd compare them to, and I daresay every one else is having problems with that question as I'm the first to reply.
I've been a Wendy And Lisa fan from the beginning, and it says alot for their output that everyone tends to choose something different as a favourite. If you threatened to blow up my Prince collection, you could force me into saying 'Fruit At The Bottom' as being the one I'd keep on a desert island - they hit their commercial peak with this one and it's certainly accessible to a newbie. I remember loving 'Always In My Dreams', and even now I think it's a great, lilting song.. Their first album has some great stuff on there - I remember reading a fantasy novel by David Gemmell right around the time I got that album, listening to it whilst reading..and 'White' fit right into the book with it's epic sound. I can't hear it now without harking back to those days, and a land of medieval battles! It's a very unusual track. But truth be told, you'd not go wrong with anything - they maintained a high quality throughout so I bow humbly in their direction. I really hope they release another album under some guise or other! For it's sheer effort and complexity..Eroica. I do like the first one, however most of the songs are about leaving the Prince and the music is very close in style and sounds slightly dated.
Not to mention the symbolism/reference of Eroica is a cool one. Christian Zombie Vampires

No one has mentioned 'Re-Mix-In-A-Carnation' yet. Maybe that's not a good album to start with.

Eroica, it's an album even prince can be jealous of.
