She was on that Joan Rivers special WHY WOMAN LOVE PRINCE along with KirstyAlley and she said they were just FRIENDS. These girls must be broke and desperate for attention if this is the kind of stuff they are putting out to get attention to start a beauty company. I have a successful video and music production company and own real estate. As far as attention is concerned, I am a person who writes music for all to hear and gets on a stage to perform around the country in front of thousands of people - of course I like attention!!! And it's a documentary about beauty - not a beauty company. I didn't start off telling these kind of stories - check out the original threads. Some of you asked us for these stories so I thought that's what you wanted and believe me we're REALLY REALLY holding back. If you want, we'll stop with the sex stuff that's cool. Our other stories are probably of more interest to others and to ME too. Anyway, why is a giant vibrator more gross than the story Bass put out? It's just NOW that you're disgusted? That's valid - it's just that I didn't see it that way. Subjective thing. I thougt it was MORE innocent than what Bassdame said. I thought it was funny. It's not even about Robin - it's a funny piece of furniture in Prince's house. Sorry if it put you off. I'll stop with those stories then - I just really don't care about them anyway. They're not essential to what I'm trying to accomplish here. Geeze - you can't please everyone can you? [Edited 10/15/05 12:43pm] ----- Artpal keep telling the stories if you want to. So far only 2 people have gotten upset and they can always not come back to this topic since they no what is being discussed.

sbrown said: Yes, beautiful people tend to get better jobs and more promotions. Unfortunately for the women, there is a certain point where their competence comes into question, since beautiful women are often stereotyped as being dumb. So they might have an easier time getting a job but a harder time reaching the higher levels of promotion. So it's a double edged sword.
[Edited 10/10/05 21:41pm] I've been trying to catch up. Been away for awhile. Great discussion on "beauty." Here's one, I was elected to a local government position three years ago. Last year at a bar, a man came up to me and recognized me. He stated that he voted for me (nice ) because he thought I was "hot." Now that's scary, hopefully, the majority of people vote more thoughtfully Oh cool! A politician! That's so cool. I tell you - it's scary how this world works, isn't it? This might sound kinda nerdy, but has anyone read "Lord of the Flies?" It's about a bunch of British kids who get marooned on an island and start their own political system. The handsome boys become the leaders but "Piggy" the fat smart guy is the one with the brains to run things. Unfortunately, the boys ignore and even kill him cuz he's fat. I think Bush is good looking. I hate him, but I know people who say they voted for him cuz he just seems so trustworthy. Now how do they get that impression? His looks. Studies show that better looking people are more likely to be judged as trustworthy and good. Besides he was running against Kerry, whose face looks like it's melting off of his skull. I'm not saying that's right - just telling it like it is. Laura, thanks for the support. Anyway, I've actually run out of decent sex stories. Bassdame is the one with the arsenal. Hi Zelaira! Hi - I got this interesting information from a fan in housequake.com:
"Lemme ask you this, ever here of this bootleg? http://www.thedatabank.or...aisley.htm It's not listed in the tracklist but "The Teacher" is also played during the rehearsal, Robin raps the lyrics. Interesting huh?" "More trivia for you, in early-mid October 1990 Prince recorded sessions for the "New Power Generation" maxi CD at Larabee Sound studios, Los Angeles. Lots of tracks came from those sessions and a number are circulating amongst fans. One such track is called "Positive Place" aka "Eliminate The Negative", Robin is present rapping and she say's something like "Uptown Dames...testing one two"." I have a question. Obviously the ideal of beauty plays a large role in society, and in particular in the music industry. Are we ready as a society to stop encouraging the idea that music sells because the singer is "sexy" ? Are we starting to maybe see a trend back to great music without the selling of the artist's looks first? (Except for the Pussycat Dolls, which seems like a new Milli Vanilli prank, I could be wrong, but...) Love is all we have, the only way that each can help the other.

Hey artpal...I was wondering in the beauty documentary did you guys ever hit on the issue of fathers and their reactions to their daughters turning into beautiful women? I think that is something that is incredably profound in how a beautiful woman interacts with men in the future...I can definatly say now after I think about it my father's reaction to me when I turning to a woman was akward and he really detatched himself from me....I think in a way sometimes dancing is my way of trying to get men's attention after feeling rejected by my father.

Did something like that ever come up in your documentary? Krystal, no, I didn't run into that issue. However, I would imagine that issue would not be unique to beautiful women, right?? Interesting - I interviewed an exotic dancer - and she too thinks her dancing has something to do with her relationship with her father. She's really smart and has a high IQ and scored perfectly on the English SAT in sixth grade. However, she was unable to do math for some reason and her father called her "stupid." As a result she believed that only her looks can get her places since she supposedly had no brains. The blessings and curses of being beautiful - a documentary

Especially in songs like "Goin to California" by Led Zepplin. I tinkered with a banduria once, which is sort of a Filipino version of it. I'm sure I can figure out how to play it, since it is similar to bass and guitar, which I know how to play. (Although I'm not as funky on the bass as Bassdame is). Do you play? By the way, what kind of guitars do you favor? Pianos?
I'm sorry, the question was probably answered ages ago... I grew up in a Fender family - my Dad has an original Les Paul and the first Stratocaster. My husband just bought a Yamaha, a little folk model that can go electric as well. As for pianos, my mom wants to give me her sweet little Baldwin Acrosonic (1958) that is still in gorgeous shape. But it's so much trouble to move all the way to France... I have to try to find something equivalent here. If you're gonna play keys, you really have to do it every day, don't you? And besides, my 2-year-old daughter is showing aptitude for the piano... she doesn't bang on it, but plays individual keys and comes up with melodic combinations. She has long, piano-playing fingers like me. Edited fer clarity [Edited 10/27/05 0:36am]
