Jesse Johnson's cassette single, Love Struck, Do Yourself A Favor. I lucked out this weekend. I went to a thriftstore and found the Jessie Johnson cassette single; since I never heard the two songs on it, I was fairly satisfied.
Love Struck is very Princelike, but it is fluff, for the most part. Do Yourself A Favor is a lot like the Prince bootleg, but I notice Prince was not credited. Was glad to find it, though. Does anybody else like these tunes? All you others say Hell Yea!!

Does anybody else like these tunes? I like almost all Jesse's solo stuff (Funky Funky Funky). And as for "Do Yourself A Favor" sounding like Prince, I think it's more like some of Prince's stuff sounding like Pepe willie's work. Pepe worked with Jesse on DYAF if credits are correct.

For some reason,I prefer Jesse's version of this song. It's better than Prince's 1982 version, and Pepe's own 1975 version (titled "If You See Me").

That is because some people's knowledge isnt as great as other hardcore long time fans - most of which know that PePe Willie wrote this song. I am always amused when a youngster comes across something like this that is over 25 years old and comes here to talk about it as if it were something new and most of us have never heard it. But hey, I am old and somebody has to be young and naive, I suppose.

Lovestruck is tight as hell, especially at the end when he's going off. I think Jesse's version is the best, especially the bside version. You could see how on each album he would bring the guitar a little more to the front until he went wild with Bare my naked soul
