I think Prince was very happy with Mayte.. just check out some of his interviews back in those days.. He was always laughing and they were always holding hands and were a CUTE couple... To me Manuela is like a "Trophy wife"... Mayte is much cuter too..... and talented... I agree with another post too.. He wrote some wonderful songs for Mayte.. and they always looked so cute on stage together and the dancing was funky..... 
I feel bad for her that so many pick on her. I know she loved Prince, but he used her and then got tired of her and dumped her..... I hope the same fact befalls Manuela!
