Pacifico: views or info... please post here Interested in the origins of Pacifico - the band, the members (their history, how they know one another) and origins of the name too?
Have spent a lazy lunch time doing some surfing on "Pacifico" and come up with the fact that a 70's Argentinian prog-rock band had the same name... http://www.progressor.net..._1972.html !!! So there could be licensing issues in South America!! Anyone with any views, info about Pacifico, please post here!

Hola, Matt - I'll get the party started, and I'm sure that the other Girl Brethren and Doyle heads will jump in shortly as they're probably more up on it than I am. Members Wendy Melvoin - you might have heard of her. She worked with this Prince guy once, and does lots of really cool scoring, session and production work with just about everybody. Lisa Coleman - also worked with that Prince guy, and does the scoring and production stuff. Not a half bad photographer in her copious spare time. Doyle Bramhall II - rising guitar god, was in a band called the Arc Angels with Charlie Sexton and Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon (i.e., Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Double Trouble") as a young 'um, and has released three albums of his own in addition to working with other guitar gods like Eric Clapton and Roger Waters. Susannah Melvoin - songwriter to folks like Prince, William Orbit and Madonna, wife to Doyle Bramhall II, twin sister to Wendy Melvoin. Hell of a singer. Abe Laboriel, Jr. - drummer who took time out from touring with Paul McCartney for the gig. Great songwriter in his own right. Has worked with folks like Seal and MeShell Ndegeocello among many, many others. Mike Elizondo - bassist for Pacifico, and probably better known for cowriting tracks like "In da Club" for 50 Cent and "Just Lose It" for Eminem. I did a wee post on how they all know each other from past projects here: http://alliasan.livejourn.../1067.html I have no idea why they picked that name, but I suspect it was over Mexican food.

(And I never know one is coming till I decloak is the weird part!) Definitely check out Girl Bros. Radio at Live365.com (free unless you want to get rid of the commercials). Also someone had boots here.

First Pacifico and now the Sybil project??
Can't keep up with it. Gotta hand it to them, they sure seem to know how to keep their core fanbase gagging for more! Best end the Boots discussion here before I get myself expelled! Thanks guys. I'm keeping my ear to the ground from now on...

I'm not sure of the origins, but before the last show (8/17), Doyle was walking around with a white t-shirt on... the front, in black marker, was written "Pacifico." On the back it said: "A Beer... A Band," hand-written as well. It looked like something he doodled himself. _ [Edited 8/22/05 10:03am] Lovesexy Funkateer

Sounds a bit more like a good description of Girl Bros. Radio. I agree on that one. They (Pacifico) played such an ecclectic playlist that Sybil is the first thing that came to mind. Their music certainly can't be pigeon holed. Its just like the girls themselves, they can just about do/play anything they want to. Hmmmm, how about a little country? I wonder.... [Edited 8/22/05 12:42pm] Um, no please. :: oooowwww! make the bad thought go away! :: co-sign. I will definately will stop be their fans if they ever goes to the achy breaky heart route. I don't think that they are into country, but i could be wrong. Seriously I want to know what type of music do they likes listening to? I thought Wendy likes listening to the 70s funk and some rock and Lisa likes listen to some rock and blues.
