John Blackwell the Magnificent I'm really hoping John Blackwell plays drums on all the tracks on the next album. That way I reckon you wouldn't get any duff tracks like Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance and Life of the Party.
I really think the live drum sound on The Rainbow Children and tracks like The Marrying Kind on Musicology just adds so much depth to the music. I love the fact Prince listed him on TRC as 'John Blackwell The magnificent'. he plays with such freedom and expression and yet is so unbelievably tight I can't believe it. The funk on that album is as funky as anything he's ever done. It's pretty obvious Prince thinks he's a pretty awesome drummer. I'm testing postive 4 the funk | |
