Who said, "Wendy and Lisa are not Funky" ???? I keep hearing talk that Wendy and Lisa have no talent! I also hear people say that "Fruit at the Bottom" was a Prince knock off and that Wendy and Lisa copied off of Prince. This really pisses me off! How can anyone justify that Wendy and Lisa are not funky??
* First, Wendy grew up listening to various funk bands of the 70's, like The Ohio Players and Isley Brothers. This shows in her style, especially when she plays live. * Second, to all the no-brained individuals who will defend Prince to the death and bash Wendy and Lisa --- have you considered the fact (yes, the fact) that when Wendy and Lisa were in the band, they collaborated with Prince. He sent THEM tapes and asked for their oppinion and redos. Did he give tapes to Dez, Andre, the Time or NPG? No! * Third, Prince did a version of Lolly Lolly for the girls on the Fruit at the Bottom CD. His version sucked, compared to theirs. Their version is funkier, by far. Note: I am NOT saying that Prince is not funky at all. I think Wendy and Lisa and Prince played off of each other's funkiness. * Finally, Has anyone noticed that the movie scores that Wendy and Lisa have composed are primarily released for an afro-american audience? Dangerous Minds, Hav Plenty, Soul Food and Juwanna Mann were made to cater to a black audience. And here is my question...How the hell do 2 WHITE girls keep getting opportunities and requests to do movies that are centered around the BLACK community, if they have no funk and soul in their music? It does NOT make sense. And why would they win an award for the composition of the score to Dangerous Minds, if they were not great at what they do? So...let's throw that idea right in the trash! Wendy and Lisa are the WHITE QUEENS OF FUNK! !!! Please note: my use of the terms "black" and "white" in this post are not meant to offed anyone. If anyone is offended by these terms...I appologize. !!! ____________________

Most of my favorite songs of Prince released and unreleased (Splash, Parade CD, All My Dreams, Go, Dream Factory outtakes) were all done with Wendy & Lisa. I wished they would have made more albums. Eroica is my fav. And there are some really cool songs on Girl Bros.

Yad,
I could not agree with you more. All anyone has to do is, take a look at the years 85" & 86" and see the magnitude of W&L's influence on Prince's music. And no, as a black man, your use of black and white did not offend me in the least. You made a point, black people feel Wendy & Lisa's music. As you mentioned, take a look at the success of "Soul Food" and "Dangerous Mind" that speaks for it self. :>) Peace, Aaron6
