Sheila E and the E train new album, Heaven - WOW! Who else got it? The production, and the tunes, fantastic! Much better than Writes Of Passage.
What about the comparisions to TRC? Same vain and style. I think Sheilas is better, stronger overall. Now I see why she is invited to the celebration. .

Haven't heard this latest record but LOVED the Writes Of Passage record...
Also, really liked the direction she took on the "Fe" record, completely traditional Latin / Latin Pop. "La Vida Glamorousa" (The Glamorous Life) is really REALLY neat to hear. I think she did this one on Arsenio Hall or something way back when the record was suppose to come out (1991 I think)... Don't remember the date exactly, have to look at the tape. "Fe" wasn't released due to the whole closing of Paisley Park issue but would have helped leave a mark in a new era of Paisley Park, an era where Prince had nothing to do with the records (think Eric Leeds last Paisley Record and Belize' Record) that were coming out from the label. I think it could have actually done something had it stayed around and became a LABEL instead of Prince's personal "I wrote it you sing it so I can release it" label. Anyway, Wrights Of Passage is an awesome record... I'm sure Heaven is as well. T

I also would like to know more about the "Fe" album. Though I'd heard that there was an uncompleted 4th album for Paisley Park, I don't know any details about it.
Back to the thread - I really liked the Writes Of Passage cd, and have been meaning to get Heaven for a while now. I'm glad 2 hear it's good. Anyone know specifics about a supposed upcoming POP album? I need to log onto Sheila's site more often... By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I love Sheila E and her current work is praise worthy but I really miss the things both she and Prince used to do back in the 80's simply because there is nothing out now that can compare to the Purple One's old music, concepts and yes style. To me Sheila played a major role in that. It is good to see them grow spiritually and expand if that is at all possible, musically but I still do miss the Glamorous Life/Purple Rain era.

Finally bought it. Circuit City has it for $12.99.
Better than "Writes Of Passage", definitely. Isn't it a coincidence that both Prince & Sheila decided to go the jazz route at around the same time? Hmmm... By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
