Family Jamm 2? Now this could rock! How many of you are thinking about traveling out here for that one?
The first one was amazing. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

i can not stress how important it is for us to voice our support for an early announced date for this thing.....last time's one month in advance really hurt the oppurtunity to raise funds for what is a wonderful charity...
i understand circumstances lead to what went down..but if they are "working" on doing it next year then they have a golden oppurtunity to get full maximum charitable support.... and dont even wait on prince..people came all the way from japan to see wendy and lisa play at Roxy...if given enough time, people will travel from all over the world.. all over the world...aight, now i sound like a house dj.. The first one was amazing. Exactly where is "out here"?[/quote] um that is for us midwest and farther east referring to about cali. it was cool of the people traveled from across country and abroad for the first family jamm but what works for those people might not be the same for everyone else. But if Sheila tells us like 6-8 months then yes people who lives far from LA like myself willing to travel out there. I bet the turn out is going to be bigger too. The last time around she told us like less than three months advanced and the other people who doesn't lives out in so. cali can't drop what they doing to go because they have other financial obligations and not the mention the expenses as well of going out to LA like airfare, hotel or motel (well me I could stay with my friend who lives out there), etc. So it gonna cost us non-cali more going out there and some people need more time to plan something like that. So the point is that we need to tell Sheila that to have it in many months advanced and i know it is long but it going to be worth it. There were many fans who I talked to online and offline said I want to go but I have such and such. While you got the others, "I ain't going unless there is a guarentee that Prince going to show. People isn't going to see Parliment without George Clinton or G-Unit without 50 cents so why Prince should be any different?" But I believed that they have learn some mistakes and vowed not to repeat them because they never done anything like that before and hopefully that they going to the astromical support and bigger success this time. [Edited 8/12/05 20:16pm] agreed...and i also think that each of the people who performed last time out have a big enough fanbase that prince not showing up doesnt really matter.. but they need to give their fanbase enough time cause we are all scattered around the world.. I would go. Whereever. Preferably with notice, but probably even if not.
But I'm weird like that. I came out from Austin, Tejas for the last Family Jamm, and it was every bit worth it. I figure I had two weeks notice for the Pacifico Largo show - which means I'm doing better over time. For my first W&L show I found out the day before. But I figure most folks would want more time, yes. Something I would like to see - though it wouldn't be as much a draw, probably - is at least a bit of "Where are they now?" in the show. Yes, it was great seeing The Revolution do their old material. But I also would have loved to see one of Dr. Fink's new tracks, a Wendy & Lisa/Girl Bros. song or two, etc. It was great to see The Family, but I'm far more interested in St. Paul's and Susannah's newer songs. Etc. I think you'd still need to include the old material and that's perhaps the draw, but I'd love to see the show truly become a jam in which the musicians get to take it a step further into their current musical exploits.
