Why did Prince sign Dale Bozzio to Paisley Park Records?

I've always wondered this. I don't really like to be too critical of other people, but she's never been known for having a good singing voice -- unique, yes... but good, no. I just saw her tonight on Jimmy Kimmel and her voice is worse than ever! Maybe Kimmel put her on the show to get a good laugh, eh? Anyway... anyone know the whole story behind Dale being signed to Paisley Park? What was Prince thinking? He even gave her a pretty decent song, "So Strong." Like Arsenio used to say, "Things that make you go... Hmmm."

um, it's "bozzio" -- not "bozio"

B-side: 'The Perfect Stranger'

Paisley Park Records showed alot of promise in the early years, with great albums from The Family,Mazarati and Sheila E.But as the 80s wore on,Prince began signing artists/bands with questionable talents.Dale Bozzio? Good Question? What was he thinking?

Prince probably liked the way her boobs looked mashed into that teeny transparent plastic outfit she wore in that one horrible Missing Persons video.

Or, maybe he was impressed with the photos she did for Hustler. lol

I have no other plausible explanation as to why he'd sign her to Paisley Park.

hmmm That sounds like a possible reason being that she had no vocal talent what so ever. Basically, when she was with Missing Persons, the band carried her at the end of the day.

What was he thinking. Come on now. He signed her based on her looks.

Anyway if you read DMSR Alan Leeds said that WB never put the money into the label and he believed it was used as a carrot to get Prince to stay with the label.
