Prince & The Revolutions I love The Revolutions. In my opinion that was Prince's best band. NPG were cool too,but The Revolutions. I think they seemed more than just a Group. They were more like family. Just check out the history. It made me when they broke up. Sometimes I just wish Prince would stay either with a band or stay solo. He's gifted true enough, but I believe The Revolutions made his career. Because when he did Purple Rain with NPG it just didn't have that same feeling.

There was only one of them, no need for the plurals.

Back to the topic at hand....the Revolution were probably closer since majority were around to witness the rise of success. Every other band is compared to them. Unless Prince does another movie where his band is featured.....the Revolution will always be remembered. However the other bands had probably better musicians.

Just so you know Sir RodskiLove, I lived next door to Bobby Z during the height of Prince and the Revolution's success and knew him personally and interviewed him about his career. He definitely didn't give the impression that they were "like a family". For Bobby, it was a job and he was under Prince's thumb creatively and technically. Bobby had to play along with the drum machine programmed by Prince during the shows. So there wasn't much equality or input as far as the band members went. Bobby left when he could to pursue a solo career which he was developing the whole time he received a paycheck from Prince. I do agree that they had a great sound back then and I think Wendy and Lisa had more presence, power and creative input than Bobby did.

It seems like Prince and wendy and lisa were more like a family while the rest of the band were just backing members. Prince have this special kind of friendship with the girls that he doesn't with anyone else. I feel bad for Bobby and he been around longer than W&L but yet Prince barely gives him creative input. But the thing I like about Wendy is that she successfully proven to Prince that she not just another for hired guitarist.

Well Fink and Z may have been either the same age or older than Prince. Being from Mpls they were more than likley set in their ways sort of. Mark being the younger than P, growing up inthe same neighborhood, high school etc.,took a lot for just being younger. So P could power trip easily of Mark. W&L being from LA and female probably made it easier to hang out if for nothing than to pick up more broads for his stable - lol.

Wish I knew. My dad was the one who told me recently how Bobby used to complain about Prince. Maybe my dad knows. I don't recall many specifics since it was 20 years ago and I was only 14 at the time.
