No, really- I'm LIKING Apollonia 6!

Just got my hands/ears on "Blue Limousine"; I think it's fantastic! Within it's own genre I mean...

Anybody know how the rest of the album compares?

"A million miles(I Love U)"is the jam.Prince and The Revolution with Sheila E.on drums did the music."Happy Birthday Mr.Christian"is very cool but that groove for "Sex Shooter"is oh so nasty!!

"Blue Limousine" is the best song off the album, imo.
I used to have the 7" of this, and I wore that groove out!
Never understood why radio didn't push this more.
Very cool tune -- and I love Brenda's voice.
She does a great job on "A Million Miles"
and on "Some Kind of Lover" as well.
Those three songs are worth the album.
Brenda gave Vanity/Apollonia 6 some merit!

How did you manage to get it on CD? I've only ever seen it on Ebay, for $100 plus...

Some kind of lover and millions miles were the best. Brenda should have taken over the lead singing. Her voice would have been great for the pointer sisters minniapolis like jam automatic.

"Blue Limousine" is definitely the highlight of the Apollonia 6 album.Brenda's vocals on this track are amazing, and the song is incredibly catchy. This is the Minneapolis Sound at it's best. You gotta love that infectious synth hook and the lyrics...

It's 7:32,where can my baby be?
I must be a fool to let somebody do this to me
I can't stop him, wherever he parks his car is alright
But he'll be parking with a dent in the side if he stands me up tonight

The other tracks are good, but not great.I think most of the other songs are too "gimmicky" and it's hard to take them seriously. For example,"Ooh She She Wa Wa" is downright embarassing. But this album is worth having just for the excellent "Blue Limousine".I'm shocked that it didn't become a huge hit single.

I'm still waiting on my CD copy - I have the vinyl from back 'n' the day, but that's kinda hard to play nowadays!

It's worth hearing for 'Blue Limousine' alone, definately. The way it segues from 'Happy Birthday Mr Christian' is just great - the two 'songs' work really well together.

PLEASE does anyone know where a legal copy of this can be had on CD? Without breaking the bank I mean...

I got Vanity 6 on CD on some obscure Canadian label (Agamemnon records???), but can't find any trace of it on the web.

As much as people rag on Apollonia's voice, and they are right, I love this album. I'm into music first and voices second and the music on this album is definately funky as hell. This is Prince at his best with that synthesized "Minneapolis Sound". I even like it better than The Time's "Ice Cream Castles" of the same era.
Andy is a four letter word.
