What was the man like? cool interview! Thanks - I only dealt with him via e-mail, but he was incredibly nice and very cooperative through the whole process of putting the Q&A together, and I really can't ask for much more than that. ![]()

Were you able to check out the Musicology tour last year? What's it like to hear Prince's subsequent NPG members playing all those songs you had a hand in creating?
No, I was unable to see the show, but I did see some TV appearances and I thought the band did a nice job doing the old songs. Dr. Fink doesn't sound bitter...much ![]() "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

Excellent interview Anxiety. You hit all the right areas and it was a great read.
Dr. Fink has always been a cool guy and hope he has a new album on the launchpad. Peace Joe Minneapolis Music Month in March on the

Dr. Fink has always been a cool guy and hope he has a new album on the launchpad. Peace Joe Dr fink is also my favorite keyboardist. he is funky and he could do solos that no one can besides Prince of course. Also he seems like a alright guy and that he is easy to talk to as well. Overall great interview!

Thanks for keeping it Fink related, I'm sure he appreciated it. I imagine Princes' ex-bandmates must get tired of always having to talk about Princes' work rather than their own.

Why be rude to Fink? I'm sure that would seem inappropriate to him since it was an interview regarding him and not Prince. boo edits [Edited 7/28/05 13:59pm]

That was off the chain Anxiety! Thanks for sharing this interview. Dr Fink was, is and will always be da man! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

ANXY is the shiznit!!! ![]() Here's my Prince heirarchy in terms of greatest band members, all my opinion of course. 1. Sheila E. - Although she was a prominent touring and session musician in her own right, the magical meeting of minds between the two of them not only put her over the rainbow, she was able to show the world her amazing talent. 2. Morris Day - You know, don't ya? 3. Wendy & Lisa - Give credit where its due 4. Matt " Dr. " Fink - Read above. 5. Andre Cymone 6. Dez Dickerson 7. Levi Seacer Jr. 8. John Blackwell 9. Michael B - I'd say he's equally good and dramatic as John. 10. Eric Leeds This post has been modified from its original thought. It has been formatted to fit into the space and run in the time allotted.

Well if anyone is able to do something with those loops, I hope you'll let us know! It sounds like there will be many Prince-sounding rips and it would be great to hear what can be done with such thing!!!!
This was a great interview and I am glad you posted it. Even more, I am glad a member of the Revolution will sit down with anyone and share the details. Plus it is always good to see what people are up to. (Please keep this kind of investigative reporting coming!)

I enjoyed your interview, Anxiety! Entirely appropriate that you asked only a couple of questions about Prince. You made the connection, but posed questions about Fink, which were good ones.
I met the Doctor at the Park during one of the celebrations. He was very open and friendly; seemed like a nice guy! Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

Thanx Anx!! Great interview. The doctor's riffs throughout his career with Prince killed me. Love him.

I'ds say put him at #7, pushing the others down, and he may go even higher because his jazz and horn influence was HUGE to Prince in his biggest creative period (85-89)!!
