Former bodyguard "Big Chick" Huntsberry (prominently seen in the movie Purple Rain) died of I believe heart failure in 1990. Prince did a benifit show to raise money for his widow and children the same year.

Former keyboardist in the SOTT/Lovesexy band and childhood friend of Sheila E, Boni Boyer died of a brain anerisum(sp?) several years ago.

I'm sorry that I don't recall if it was Wendy or Lisa's brother that Prince dedicated Sometimes It Snows In April to on the March 2004 live telecast.

Actually thanx u r right about Wendy's brother, Jonathan Melvoin. He died of a heroin overdose whilst touring with the Smashing Pumpkins. I forgot that he played on "Around The World In A Day"!

Tony Lemans - Paisley Park recording artist...apparently was working on a 2nd release on Paisley and died in a traffic accident. I think LeMans was also involved with Lenny Kravitz in some way.

thats all I can recall other then Boni Boyer and Big Chick that were mentioned earlier.

Also not quite an associate, but real close to Prince was Miles Davis and his death had a huge impact on Prince.

I heard it was lisa's brother that prince dedicated the song too. that was so cool of prince did. ironitically dave die the same month that prince did that live telecast. it is an ashame of the way he died too disbelief. he was a unique and innovative musician at his own right. i heard that david isn't just a musican but also an artist too.

From what I heard from sources, Tony and Lenny were friends and used to jam together. Also, Tony used to kick with Vanity's kid sister.

Just to add a little clarificaiton..... Wendy and Suannah's brother Johnathan Melvoin died several years ago..... he was the one who toured with Smashing Pumpkins.

He played on some tracks on Around The World album I think. He also played keys for The Family live band.

More recently, Lisa's brother David Coleman died (last year?). I don't know if it's ever been disclosed how it happened.

David influenced ATWIAD; in fact I think he wrote the original version and got Prince interested in different instruments and sounds (the whole Middle Eastern vibe on that album). There's a story where Prince gave him some studio time as a birthday present which led to his and I think Johnathan's involvement on the album.

In addition to Big Chick and Boni Boyer, Earl Jones who was the hairdresser on the Purple Rain tour also passed away (not sure if he was related to Jill Jones or not).

At the Family Jamm, Alan Leeds made a really nice announcement where he paid tribute to all the artists and souls that have moved on.

I heard this was Jill Jones' uncle and when he passed, Prince did not send any acknowledgement or condolences to the family and Jill was not happy about that.

I thought I read somewhere that they were in a band together called Romeo Blue. I'm not quite sure though.

earl jones have been prince's hairdresser for awhile particularly during the purple rain era. i think the mid-90s was rough for Jill because not only she lost her uncle but she lost her mother as well.

david coleman died last year and i think it was around march and also someone even posted on here of the announcement. i was shocked too when i heard first wendy lost her only brother and now lisa too. as far as the cause of his death there people out there and also me included knew what happen but out of respect of lisa and the colemans no one saying anything.

and boni boyer was a great keyboardist and she died of a brain anysm? back in 1996 and her and sheila e if not mistaken grew up together and also were best friends

I believe Tony and Lenny were in a group called Female Body Inpectors (F.B.I.), and had a song entitled "THE GIRL PULLED A DOG," which was on the movie soundtrack "MODERN GIRLS" released in 1986.

Well, if I not mistaken their group went through some name changes.

i can't believed it going to be ten years next year for jon. as for lisa's brother david i got a source from someone who knew david last year that he died the same way as jon but i don't know it is true since it never been officially announced.
anyway it sad that the girls both lost their brothers at a young age.

I didn't know anything about this. Was quite a surprise, as I really liked the guy - always had time for the fans. Very cool guy. He died on september 14th, 2001 after a 2 year battle with cancer. pray
