 Doyle and Sus were on fire. Not as much solo material from them, but what they played was stellar. Abe Laborial,jr is a kick ass drummer with a strong vocal presence. His guitar playing aint half bad.....Mike E, well what can I say..His fingers thump a mean bass!!!! Wendy and Lisa...Top of their game from the get go. Wendy again leading a rousing version of Rasberry Beret. Yes, she tried again to clarify her comments regarding Prince's lyrics. If you ask me, she is entitled to her opinion and doesnt need to keep trying to smooth anything over. Non the less, with the added horn section, they had a fuller sound that just rounded everything out. Fantastic, Funky and Full of Love is the sound that was brought forth on this night. Did I mention all the loving eye contact between Doyle and Lisa? I think Doyle was trying to bring Lisa out a bit...I think I just really enjoyed seeing and hearing the vibe between them all. There is alot of LOVE in that there PACIFICO  ....I spoke to Sus and Wendy and according to them...Nothing as far as a cd. There may be a possibility of some tunes hitting the net for downloading. No plans for Violets being released but Sus is hopeful (Lets cross or fingers and whatever else)..AND, the last date in aug may not happen. Wendy stated that her and Lisa just got hit with a ton of work, so we shall see....But that's still a good thing...As Martha would say!

ps, I thought it was touching to hear Wendy dedicate " I will" to Pops Melvoin thanks for the info girlbro you always have the latest 411 about our home girls well wendy in my case. you so lucky that you actualy know the melvoin twins. very tight. i think that it is a good idea of them releasing tunes via website and i think that it going to take a lot of work and also money to do cds. come on wendy and lisa this isn't 1998 anymore give us the tunes via your website. so much simply in my opnion and plus it be easier access to. no new cd, well i guess that is understanding since wendy has been visably busy doing some session work and i heard that she doing some major producing for upcoming girls band called the like and lisa is starting to be seen a lot lately which is a good thing since we been seeing wendy more over the last few years and lisa and wendy got hit with ton of work well that is a good thing and as long as they stay busy that all it matters. "new wendy&lisa cd?" "no new news" was the responce....."new doyle album"? "no, (pause....) noose...." we asked lisa to sing "dont try to tell me" and she played a lil bit of it...and then "abe- remember how to play skeleton key" which he responded, "oh yeah..." started to play the drums and the band went into the song....PERFECT QUESTION!!! i still cant believe i provided some "variety show" writing to their concert.. 
the reason i asked abe about skeleton key was because after the Wendy & Lisa Roxy Show (many many years ago) he walked off the stage and I commented how good he played the song (Skeleton Key is a drummer's wetdream"...) he thanked me and said, "good cause i just learned the song and was soo nervious).... then they played a couple other songs and then wendy returned to the book and said there was one more good question she wanted to ask which was "mike: bigger pimp? Eminem or 50 Cents"..he said he couldnt answer that but that Eminem had the bigger pimples....

These shows get better and better every week. All were in fine form and having so much fun. The horns were used very effectively and made for the greatest live funk performance I've seen in recent memory. Excellent work -- can't wait for the next one! noituloveryxesevolasildnaydnew

A Quick Aug 10th Show Report:
No "Raspberry Beret" tonight. Instead, we got ERIC CLAPTON jamming with the band for 10-15 mins or so... Was fun watching Wendy's and Doyle's faces as they watched Eric play. Nikka Costa did a song with them also. And Lisa's sister joined them on stage for another song. After the Eric Claptop Jam, Wendy, in all seriousness, asked if Prince was in the audience and did he want to join them. There was a rumor floating around the club that he'd be there... but... to no avail... Show ran from about 9:15pm to about 11:15pm. Also spotted in the audience -> Actor, John C Riley, and Seal. - RTS - ***

prince was there...as well as at the afterparty that a bunch of us attended..
wendy, doyle, lisa and susannah performed at erika badu's afterparty for her tour w/ jill scott, queen latifah and many others..prince was in the house but didnt perform.. i didnt get to see any of the wendy and lisa shows....it wasnt in the air for me.. but i did get to chat with wendy...check out this thread and girlbroslandia.org later for details..im pooped right now.. oh wait, other celebs in the house..nikka costa, arnell nevelle, john mayers and sheila e...
