New goodies in Backstage Pass room

If you visit the Backstage Pass room at NPGMC you'll find some new features waiting to be discovered, such as: a tourbook archive, a sampling of the "Prince in Hawaii" book, and a cleaned-up photo album chronicling 2004's Musicology tour.

well, it's not a free download of the original "dream factory" demos in perfect sound quality, but for some unannounced little freebie stuff i think it's pretty cool. shrug

c'mon now... you know that any prince fan is always feenin' for music of his they haven't heard before.

he needs to get real and stop trying to sell that fucking book and put some new music on the site for us to buy.

and i'm not talking about a couple of live tracks from the musicology tour. i'm talking about releasing unreleased studio material.

or maybe the small club, 2nd show that night on video... since he already released that in 1988 evillol

there's a lot of stuff prince maybe "should" do - fact is, he ain't.

really, my guess is that P is bored with the club anymore, but he's still expecting the people who run it to keep drawing people to the site.

yeah, i guess he goes through phases where he comes across as not caring about the music. this would be one of those times.

i'd be bored with the club too if i had places like the org and housequake to go to... in fact, i'd venture to say that along with him, most of us are bored with the club.

he'll find this to be true when/if he checks the stats to see how many of the paid members actually went and looked at what another admirer referred to as the "annual attic clear-out at paisley park"...

that said, i used to think he was all about the money over the last few years. i guess not since he hasn't done anything to make any this year... i guess after last year, he's taking a break. maybe he just needs to "make room for all those copies of the watchtower or somethin"... evillol

The close buttons don't work on those stupid tourbook tabs, so you have to go back to the main page and back into Backstage Pass, which reloads those horrible clunky graphics every time.

Not complaining (as there's no point), just an observation, but it seems to me that if new stuff is going to be added to a MUSIC club, maybe it should be music.

but when the person who provides the music to the music club isn't interested in forking over the tunes, the people who run the site have to make do with what little resources they have to keep the place worth visiting. i would like it if prince showed more love to the club too, but i guess right now i'm afraid it is what it is.

nod Me too. Perhaps it should be renamed NPGNMC, or to be completely fair NPGVLMC.

I agree, it isn't the best Update to the Site.....I think the
addition of the RingTones were much better, even though I personally
couldn't participate in that because of my Phone.....but this
Update is atleast fun to see, and it is an Update nonetheless.

Ringtones are very two years ago. I'm sure someone MUST have suggested this on a previous post but why doesn't the Music Club sell single tracks, unreleased, remixed, or live tracks for a $1 each? They'd sell like "pancakes," no?

You can't access the Backstage Pass area unless you're a member. Good news is, you can see most if not all of the tourbook photos on housequake.com. Go to the Photos forum and peruse through the Photo Specials...I'm pretty sure all or at least most of the tourbooks are there. They also have a Special focusing on the Prince in Hawaii book (but NPGMC is showing some pics from it that aren't on HQ).

Yes, people are going to stop using ringtones because it was so two years ago.

Not bad for a site that is constantly trashed by its own members. Perhaps there are some tihngs that are done right on NPGMC. And I was banned months ago so I am not biased.

i guess if i weren't cursed by a sense of perspective i'd be a little cynical about these little sprucings-up to the site as well. after all, it's just a bunch of images when what we want from a MUSIC club is MUSIC, right?

however, i can't help but keep in mind that these were features that were added to one of the less-visited parts of the site, with absolutely NO fanfare or even an announcement that the features had been added. they were just little piddly surprises - easter eggs, really - that if anything, rewarded people who poked around the site during a fallow period in terms of prince's output.

i really don't think the pics in the backstage pass room were meant to be the next neo-manifesto or sacrifice of victor. it's not some grand undertaking. it's just some fun little doohickeys to keep folks' attention while there's nothing else out there going on. nothing ethereal. wink
