"I gave colors to you you've never seen..." W&L

...from "Song About" (to Prince) from Wendy & Lisa, 1987.

Are not these two ladies the best songwriters that Prince has ever worked with?? Check out the things they've done since splitting from him. Awesomely beautiful stuff!! I would love to see the three of them get together again, if only to make an album for the fans.

this is my 2nd favorite song on the 1st Wendy & Lisa album,
right after, of course "everything but you".

I love the piano & synth work Lisa does on this song.
I also love that "dainty" little melody that you can hear between each line of verse..

& the way they sing "this is just another song about it".. has an.. "airy" feel to it..

YEAH, it would be interesting - to say the least - for Wendy & Lisa & prince to collaborate again on some more music.. but I think we'll be holding our breath A LONG TIME before THAT happens again
(& yes, I know Wendy did something with him sometime not too long ago..)

like many here on the org know & have said- A LOT of prince's best work he did with Wendy & Lisa. BY FAR.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I have heard all of the stuff they have done since leaving Prince and I cant get why they are unjustly given so much credit. It just isnt as good as anything Prince did so how they get credit for doing so much for Prince has little merit if any.

Many here on the org also say stop kissing their butts because they were not that great. There are polls here and on other sites that indicate they are the most overrated Prince band members ever. Reunion collaborations? Show me Prince with Dez and Andre again. Or Prince and Morris Day.

So this song IS about The Revolution breaking up, as I have always suspected that it was? The lyrics seem to indicate that it is, can someone confirm or tell me that I'm wrong? smile
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

You've got to be kidding.

If you ever listened to Wendy and Lisa, you would easily see that they played a huge part in Prince's success. They're extremely talented. I could go on and on about them.

People are so far up Prince's ass that he can't do no wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love Prince's talent as a musician.

I do know that Wendy and Lisa brought a sound to Prince's music that hooked us all. It was that sound we all know too well in the movie Purple Rain.

Prince hasn't released anything that can touch W&L's music since 1995...
And besides the sheer originality and musical chemistry between these 3 people is still unmatched in the Prince realm post 1986...

What about The Truth ( Dionne, Circle Of Amour, Don't Play Me..) some Emancipation ( TLWM, Joint2Joint..) & TRC tracks, The War..

edit, thanks to Gooey I 've finally got W&L's To Trip Is To Fall, it's great but something is missing imo, I wish it was a Prince & The Revolution track.

hence it being a b-side...all their b-sides are pretty much repetative choruses...

Well that's your opinion. I happen to think differently. I love what he did with the girls, but I also love with he did post Revolution.

Ridiculous - YOu would think that there were not 3 or 4 other people in the band other than Wendy and Lisa. Emancipation and the Gold Experience alone are greater thant he entire body of work that Wendy and Lisa released. What masterpeices have they generated since leaving Prince? They havent exactly burned up the charts or even gotten that much critical acclaim.

Listen to their output... And what "masterpieces" has Prince generated since W&L left? "The Black Album" and "Come" being the only records released after they left that was decent enough to hold their own compared to his "classics"...
Amazing albums but nothing compared to songs like "In A Large Room With No Light" or even "All My Dreams"...

They havent exactly burned up the charts or even gotten that much critical acclaim.

How come there are still idiots who think that "burning up the charts" equal good music??
You probably think Britney Spears is a musical genius... Talk about ridiculous...
