i just saw maceo & george on stage ! Jazz à Vienne festival, tonight ! Maceo Parker + George Clinton ! Wow ! I had already seen both of them but it was a while ago &, man ! these guys r still GREAT !!!
Maceo's band (incliding Fred W., Pee Wee E. & Greg B.) now is way much better than the band i saw back in 1991 & 1995, so much more funky, & it was such a good surprise 2 see Morris Hayes on keyboards ! The guy's still as good as he was when he was with Prince ! 2 hours of great funk ! As 4 George & the P-Funk crew... Wow ! I had seen them 5 times back in 94, 95 & 97 & they're still the craziest band on earth ! 2 hours & a half of insane funk (actually, the concert producers almost threw'em outta stage cuz they didn't want 2 stop playing !). Lili Haydn, which i didn't even know is now playing with George, did a crazy violin solo with lotsa effects on it, Belita Woods is still the funkiest female voice after Chaka, George is still that wonderful, nice & smiling orchestra leader. It was a bit of Funkadelic, a bit of Parliament, plus what seemed 2 b new songs ! Bernie Worrel was part of it, too, which was also a surprise since he used to hang solo or with Bootsy instead of George. Well, that was sooooo great ! I'd like 2 go 2 a P-funk concert every night ! Just wanted 2 share this with u, it was a wonderful moment of music ! Peace y'all ! [Edited 7/11/05 20:34pm] [Edited 7/11/05 20:37pm] [Edited 7/11/05 20:38pm] | |
