Jesse Johnson Back With The Time! The Time Performed in Chicago last night and according to reports Jesse was with them. Let the funk roll, love to see this brother back.
The Time was great last night - Jungle Love, The Bird, Wild and Loose, 777-9311 - doing all the old Purple Rain dance moves and dressed like 1984. No Jimmy Jam or Terry Lewis. In attendance were Morris, Jerome, Monte, Jellybean, Jessie, and a bass player (forgot his name). I wasn't too impressed with the Gap Band's performance. It was fun to hear Burn Rubber, Outstanding, and You Dropped the Bomb on Me but I never knew what an ego Charlie Wilson has! I know that he has a song out now, and that was the band's encore, but I don't think the song is all that, and compared to The Time, their performance was sloppy. Does Charlie mention his name in every song? It seems that way. The show was free, but I'd pay to see The Time again

Did he (Jesse) or did he not perform with the Time? You were there right? According to reports is not very clear. Let me know? Thanks!

I am wondering if he is playing with them permenately. That's what I want to know. As for the Gap Band's performance, I figured their performance will be lacking b/c their original backing band members are no longer playing with the band do to pay issues. So instead, Charlie has to hire amature/novice musicians who are off cue and don't know shit to back him. [Edited 7/1/05 3:33am]

Sad to hear that The Gap Band can't pay the original members so that they can get the right funk behind them. Their drummer Barry Chenault is solid though, he used to be with the PFunk back in 93 and the brother can burn, but hate to hear that he has subpar musucians around him!

Jesse being back with the fellas - AUTOMATIC, BIGTIME UPGRADE, ALL THE WAY AROUND. & in some type of way, it's got to open up/bring back the possibility of JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWIS following suit.. FUCK! "100% TIME" "FULL TIME" "REAL TIME" "ALL TIME" "ORIGINAL TIME" WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT TO CALL IT.. BRING IT ON ! MORRIS DAY JESSE JOHNSON TERRY LEWIS MONTE MOIR JIMMY JAM JELLYBEAN JOHNSON JEROME BENTON BRING THIS THE FUCK ON ! YEAH I'M BEING GREEDY, but I have not seen "Morris & The Time" since '99.. & I have not seen THE TIME live since 19EIGHTY-THREE ! JESSE REALLY BACK WITH THE GROUP ? ? ? DAMN LET THIS BE TRUE! it's okay y'all.. I will eventually calm down & regain my composure.. by sometime tonight, I'm sure.. ! ! ! ! ! I'll see you tonight..

I would have been VERY surprised if Jessie had rejoined. Seriously, Jessie doesn't want to go back to playing "The Stick". Tori Ruffin, who I have known since 89, ( we were both in the Black Rock Coalition) will stick around with Morris probably longer than Morris will! SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. I saw Jellybean at a CD store here in MPLS and I did ask him about Jesse playing in Chicago and his response was, "no, Jesse played with us on New Years in Las Vegas."
