Had anyone on here had an encounter with Mayte? She is like an absoult idol to me! I have loved her since she first danced with Prince in the early ninties and really think she is talented! But I never really have heard her speek that much or express much of her personality. She seems really mysterious in a way! I have had two encounters with her....well sorta...once I saw her filming the Holy River with NPG and in 2002 she came into my club with Tommy Lee but I never got a chance to talk to her. I love Mayte! What is her personality like??

I only met her once.
It was 1992, right before the O)+> album came out..there was a listening party and convention organized by Controversy Fanzine held at Glam Slam.
The only prior knowlege of her was that clip at the end of the "Sexy MF" home videotape that was sold when the single came out the whole "introducing Mayte" thing.... no one knew who she was or anything.
But a group of members of the NPG, Carmen Electa and at the end of the line was Mayte all set up for signing autographs...
I knew who the NPG were..but No idea who this Carmen or Mayte were.
But I knew one thing...they were HOT!!!!
Carmen was very rememberable to me cuz of her eyes..they are stunning!
And Mayte seemed..REALLY REALLY sweet, soft spoken and shy, of course this was probably her First meet and great with us Prince fans..LOL. It just really clicked with me that she seemed very normal, didn't stick out in the crowd. And was probably wondering just as much as the rest of us...what the hell is she doing there? So I made an extra attempt to shake her hand and tell her it was nice to meet her.....if for just for a moment to feel welcome in this strange world.

She used to "talk" quite a bit around 1996-1998. She was always the sweetest thing... I really didn't like her until I got to know her, and then I started keeping a picture of her and one of her puppies at work to cheer me up. I pray she never loses that sweet spirit, even if she is human.

Nah, I was just one of a group of fans who were around at the time. There was always that "I'm a fan of the person who she's married to" kind of thing to it, so that makes it tough to become a true friend.

No... all I knew about her was the person you see when she performs, nothing more. I didn't believe she was talented and couldn't understand why Prince liked her so much. But I found out! She was very sweet and spiritual -- not preachy spiritual, but peaceful spiritual... the way she talked just made you feel good.

anyway i asked her if she ever played her album children of the sun ? i said i liked it bla bla bla..... to my surprise a couple of days later she had replied that she did occasionally listen to her album usually when she had friends over !!

Well I haven't met Mayte in person, but she sometimes post at her forum http://www.mayteonline.com, and I created some posts where she responded to so, I was happy that she replied to one of my posts because she rarely posts on the forum. However, I do know people that met Mayte, and from what I heard she is a sweet person. I wish I was out in LA a few months back she did a autograph signing for her appearing in a magazine, and some fans of her got to attend it maybe in the future it will happen again I would love to go especially since I'm out in California, but not near the LA area, yet I can always make a flight and be there within 2 hours or less just to get to meet her would be cool.

I have met Mayte a few times. The first was when her dance company premiered here in Detroit, back in '97...I think. I also met her in Soho and Florida. SHe has always been very personable.
