Inside my sugarwalls?

Who remembers this song? It was by Sheena Easton, closely associated to Prince.

This was the early 80's and I used o hear this song all the time when my mom was driving me to school. Though clearly hearing the lyrics I was arounbd first grade
and had no idea of the implement.

Now that I'm in my 20s I'm thinkiong that when Sheena said sugarwalls she meant the inside of her vagina. Amazing how you can get something so explicit on radio.
I hade a tottally different ineterpretation. I had the walls of a room coated with sugar in my mind.
Working up a purple sweat.

I remember this song from when I was younger...I always thought what it would sound like if Vanity sang it...?
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.
And I am

I certainly remember the song. I was in the 7th grade. At first I thought it was about the four walls of her bedroom, but then I soon learned otherwise...
Damn this kooky love affair....

I was a big Sheena fan way back when... "For Your Eyes Only," "Morning Train," and my most fav pre-Prince Sheena song, "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)" -- I used to play that one over and over. Hey, I was only like 10 years old, y'know.

I loved that song "Morning Train (Nine To Five)",which was her debut hit in 1981.I gotta get a Greatest Hits CD by her.

hmmm I never really cared to much for her pop shit. Actually, I don't think that alot of people didn't start feeling her until P turned her out and on to the Funk. Then, she really started to blossom out of course it broke up her marriage but it made for good music which counts.

I was in high school (in '85, I would have been a "junior") when this song came out
(&.. sigh.. already "sexually active")
so I knew RIGHT AWAY what this song was about. to me, it was BLATANTLY obvious & I was a little surprised that some stations played the song at all.

most of my friends knew the deal, too.

I even remember saying something like
"oh baby, I wanna spend the night inside your sugar walls"
as part of my (mostly LAME) "rap" as a "hormonally charged" teenager back in the day..

tsk, tsk..

great song, though..
& as usual, I prefer the extended version with the (longer) guitar solo
& where Sheena asks (spoken) "have you ever been in love?? I could make you NEVER want to fall in love again.. don't you want to spend the night??"
then she laughs..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
