Vanity 6 LP question-Please help

I think I might have gotten ripped off on ebay. sad I bought the Vanity 6 self-titled LP, but it looks suspicious to me. For one thing, one side is side 1, and the other side is side 6 (or is that b/c it's Vanity 6?). It says produced and arranged by The Starr Company (I thought it would say Jamie Starr), and finally the number scratched into the actual vinyl looks handwritten...is that right? Please advise.

Finally, does anyone have the name of that website that you can look up the numbers for LPs? I know I have seen it here before...

Thanks!!

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Every single vinyl I have has a handwritten number, so that's probably quite normal too.

There are often little messages on them as well. I have a copy of Depeche Mode's Shake The Disease on 12" vinyl, and along with the number is written "Are these guys in a band?". When I discovered this I went through all my vinyl and discovered quite a few little messages left by presumably bored serial number writers. This was a few years ago, so although I've been wracking my addled brain, I can't think of another example, but I know there were quite a few.

There's probably a better place to look up serial numbers (and hopefully langebleu will be along shortly to tell us what it is) but The Library of Congress is one place you could look, here's the link for their SONIC search engine :

Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

On the 12" of "Let's Pretend We're Married" is inscribed "Listen to the lyrics".... and I know there are more.....

Thanks for the info. I felt like it was the real deal before I bought it, but then when I saw it in person I got nervous. I don't know too much about LPs...

On either 'Prince Charming' or 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' by Adam & the Ants, there's an message on the vinyl that says "Have you found the lost Hawaiians"?

Many Siouxsie And The Banshees records have messages scratched into the inside edge.

Yes. One message that stands out in my mind is 'Bye bye Blackheads' which was a reference to the two band members that quit after the second album in 1979. It might have been on the "Happy House" 7"

No, no poster.

One time I was at the Chelsea flea market with a friend and he found a Controversy LP with the poster still in it...he snatched that up right away. $3 I think.
