Not sure if any of you know about the alt-rock band SELF, I picked up the debut album "Subliminal Plastic Motives" and really liked the music. I then soon found out the guys in SELF loved Prince music and sometimes it definetly showed in the music. Soon some of my friends from UPstate NY moved to Tennesse and made friends with the guys from SELF, it was cool cause they were telling me about them (this great band in Tennessee) and I already knew about SELF.

Mike Mahaffey R.I.P.
We got the word from Mac Burrus that Self guitarist and Matt's brother Mike Mahaffey passed away. Here's Mac's post:

I hate to post this,but I am sure his familly will want you friends and fans to know... The world lost a a truly great person today. Michael D. Mahaffey passed away in his sleep this morning. He was a true treasure of a person to find and get to know in this world. Those of us who knew him only have the best of things to say about him. For me he was always the bright and shining corner of any stage we played. He was the eldest person in Self and with that came a lot of knowledge of things that I being the youngest got to learn the easy way through him. He was a father of not only his three beautiful children, but also to anyone who needed one. He was an amazing loving person, a true homage to his loving parents. I pray for his familly in the coming weeks. I will miss him. He was beautiful and he will always be. I will miss my friend.
