Yeah, this is one of P's best songs that he gave to someone else. I remember when this came out, it was huge! Perfect first song for Sheila. Another one that I suggest is "A Love Bizzare". This also, is banging! SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I used to really like that back in the day. I remember buying the Sheila E record in 1984 and opening it to see "The Glamorous Life: 8:58"! I thought damn, I really need to hear this. It must be epic! Looking back I think Prince was just covering for the fact that his artists didn't have enough songs.

But, like u sexton, I loved P's long ass songs! And I really loved the "long versions", like "Let's Work". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I love the extended versions of Prince's songs (most of the time), but all those long ass versions of otherwise great Time songs are obvious album fillers. It's almost enough to ruin a good song.

Yea but, just think, this person is listening to it for the FIRST time. How cool is that? Remember the first time you heard 1999, Sign O' The Times, Purple Rain, etc.
To have that experience now at my advanced age (33) would be v.v. cool. I believe that great music is timeless, however the 1st time, wow! Love wins. (Seen on bumpersticker)

The entire album is AWESOME,and its greatness still holds up today, all this time later. I remember the first time I heard it when it first came out - my friend had brought it with her to school and I listened to it on headphones during a study period. I was like .
Glad you are enjoying it !

Just listened to that whole cd again a few weeks ago. Glamorous Life is the gem, in that collection. Belle of St. Mark was also a fun single (sounds a little dated now though)

Indeed. Shelia old album is the jam but the 80's sound is dated.

I couldn't agree w/ you more BG Baby. Age is definitely a state of mind. With age comes wisdoms, maturity, and knoweledge of self. The complexities of life become more routine and you learn to deal with any outcome that life may throw at you that may be positive or negative in nature. [Edited 6/1/05 21:27pm]
