Oh, most def!!!! Kirk couldn't drum his way out of a wet paper bag. What was P thinking when he put him on drums after having the power house that is Michael B? Must have been cheap labour I think. Best.... Mmmmm..... Over all I would say John Blackwell. Man, that dude knows how to bash those skins! -----------------------------------------------

John and Bland beat out Sheila E. She just cant thrash a set like those guys - they are physically stronger and you can hear the difference. Do you think Sheila could rip that opening solo on Shh! like Bland and it would have that same thump in your ass?
And while everyone likes to rip Kirk - like the uneducated like to rip Larry all the time - I will say that he wasnt the best but he was funkier than Bobby Z. What did Boobby ever do of any note? On the Purple Rain tour, all he had to do was smash cymbals in time with the drum machines. [Edited 5/15/05 15:08pm] [Edited 5/15/05 15:08pm] [Edited 5/15/05 15:09pm]

I liked them all, but as far as drop dead drumming, the node goes to John Blackwell, with a near tie between Bland and Sheila.
Sheila looks better than all, but seriously seems to love playing the drums on thoses songs and its the joy in her playing that gets her the slight node over the limited run that Michael B did with Prince. But Blackwell kills them all!!!
