THE GR8 FUNK/ROCK DEBATE ,,LETS CONTINUE ANEW

OK OK after reading sum misguided theories on what rock bands had influenced prince, and where i and a few others stated that PARLIAMENT AND FUNKADELIC especially had been a major rock influence ,and sum orgers had stated that these bands werent ROCK :

i wanna get this sorted with a new thread !!!!!

who fuckin agrees with me that FUNKADELIC were not just funk based music and a shitload of their material was indeed ROCK!!!!!????

aS suggested by a like minded orger ,,(and lets just look past this whole BLACK/WHITE music shit, thats a thread raised sum months ago by an old friend o mine ,ESCOBAR,remember him troublemaking prick he was!!!)

Rock itself grew from jazz ,which was originally defined "black music" from jjazz n rock came funk the element of which, was used primarily by the aforementioned bands, but in essence funkadelic utilised many elemnts of rockn roll in theye albums ...any fuckin naysayers go n get funkducated with "tales of kidd funkadelic",lets take it to the stage ,the electric spanking of war babies .for just a small taste these arent just funk classix they are rock /funk classix ..

Now ....let the games begin .....

Lots of funk groups had elements of rock in their music.....Cameo, The Barkays, The Isley Brothers, Parliament, Slave, Rick James, etc.
Andy is a four letter word.

When will you guys realize ROCK MUSIC came from RHYTHM AND BLUES? So bascially EVERYBODY owes MOST of what we listen to, to Slave/Negro Spiritual/Hymns because that launched Gospel, Blues, Jazz...and then we get all the way to Hip-Hop/Rap becuase of it. But that may be a lil too deep for some of y'all to grasp onto. wink

That's pretty much what I thought after listening 2 Led Zepplins 1st album. After years of hearing Led Zepplin being 1 of the biggest rock bands of all time I decided 2 get their 1st record and my 1st impression was "this record is so blues based". I knew that Rock N Roll came from the Delta Blues but I didn't expect it 2 be so prominent in Zepplins music.

Oh and let us not forget Mother's Finest and Rufus. You can't leave them of the list.

And see, now I don't see Rufus as NOTHING but a soul/R&B group.

Like alot of Led's stuff but they basically stole their stuff from Robert Johnson.

Yeah, and I define "steal" and "influenced/borrowed" this way: If you DON'T acknowledge who you got it from or influenced by, then you STOLE it, if you DO acknowledge who you got it from or influenced by, then you BORROWED it.

i think parliament/funkadelic has the distinction of bein one of those bands who can play it ALL, because george like james found a way 2 put some of the baddest motherfuckers all in one space and thats what makes a great band...bein able to play anything and everything and not bein scared 2 try it....

Okay, now explain that to those of said color who give Lenny shit for doing what he does. We need more black ROCK musicians, imho. Prince is one of the best rock guitarists ever -- it'd be nice if he showed it off some more. If ya got it, flaunt it.
