First there can never and I mean never be another Prince. Secondly.....is he really gay? I mean it doesnt really make any difference to me cause the guy can still sang the hell out of some slow jams, but I am still shocked to say the least. I mean you guys have blown me away with this one.

That is a surprise, but it is still a rumour.

Anyway, its probably speculation. Shit, he's probably Bi. A lot of these guys are now. And if he is then, he is one greddy muthafucka!

I've heard Maxwell was kind of going thru a rough time. I read that he went into depression because someone in his family passed (might have been his father). Also he was disappointed because his last CD ("Now") didn't do so hot on the charts. He's probably been under a lot of pressure from the label to put out "Urban Hang Suite" part 2.

rumors, rumors, rumors....two years ago there were rumors that he got into trouble for having sex with underage girls, then they said he got married, and some other people with insider info told me that the reason for Now getting shelved was that it sounded too much like Prince ( in its early configuration)..
I don´t care if he´s gay or not, I love his first two albums and that MTV thing, Maxwell is a great singer and should definitely hook up with Mathewman again.
What´s the big deal about him being gay ?? So ´maybe he´s gay, but WTF, who cares?
I don´t, and I´m so hetero it´s on the verge of being sick.

I can't hear a direct Prince influence on "Urban Hang Suite". Love the album though. I also love "Embrya"; not exactly commerical as a whole (although "Matrimony" is a great little pop song), but very atmospheric. "Now" was very weak. Here's hoping he pulls it out of the bag for the next one.

"Now" didn´t sound as coherent as Urban Hang Suite and Embrya....those albums create a certain atmosphere...Embrya has this underwater vibe, Urban Hang Suite has sort of a storyline and sounds sexy and jazzy, but Now doesn´t have the same flow, even though there are some great songs on it.
And I like his version of This Woman´s Work...and that´s coming from someone who love´s Kate´s original.

I kinda agree. I don't see any resemblence to Prince's style...but maybe a similiar vibe. Also, in 97, Alan Leeds, longtime Prince tour manager (And Eric Leeds' brother), was Maxwell's tour manager.
