if i pick by what i think of as "pure traditional vocalist" it'd go like this:alexander, prince, andre, brownmark, jesse, morris, paul, mikki, sonny, georgio.

Georgio is interesting because his voice is really weak, but he soundd good in the dance environment of his first album, but subsequent releases showed more and more flaws.Mikki is ok,not great and not bad.His voice just isn't that interesting in and of itself.Alexander shows a more traditional "black" sound and he has a fairly wide range. Brownmark was good as a backing singer and as a lead. He seemed to understand his range . Paul has a good voice, but I haven't heard a great deal of it.More traditional "white sound" to his vocals(funkier than John Tesh, though!),Sonny is a good background singer to me. He was good on Exodus, but I don't want more of his voice. Andre didn't always seem to know his range or what direction he was going, but overall,I like his vocals. The first 2 solo albums showed a more "manly" style of singing and on AC he went to the falsetto style more . His song "v.o.t.r." is a solid pop vocal performance as is "kelly's eyes".Andre is a capable lead and an excellent background singer.Funky brotha, too.Morris is very limited in range, but he has made the most of what he has. There isn't much traditional about his vocals, but they are effective and I belive him when he sings. Dez has a classic midwest rock star voice to me. It isn't a great instrument, but it is pretty solid and he knows his range. He is an excellent background singer. Jesse is another excellent background singer. His voice,to me, is deceptive. At times,he appears to be limited and almost lazy in his delivery ,but he is very capable of emotional fire. Jesse is a rock star and a rock singer.Even when he sings funk,in my ears,I hear rock. That quality raises the most flat instrumental and the least inspiring lyric to levels not many to eek out. Then, there is Prince. The vocal dynamo. He takes vocal acrobatics to a whole other level. Not the most traditional of singers ,but one that cannot be denied. Prince can sound so beautiful and so out-of-control sometimes and often on the same damned song! Prince's voice is wonder to me. He has a wide range and a wide range of emotions that are easily conveyed with his instrument. Prince's voice is the bastard child of Marvin Gaye and Jimi Hendrix(another underrated vocalist).
