Her version of Prince's 'Silver Tongue' now apparently absent.

I don't think Silver Tongue was intended for Nikka to record. She sent Prince a poem, and he sent her back a song that used the poem for lyrics.. that could be all there is to it. Does anybody have further info?

I'll be interested in hearing her album anyway..

I have been to her updated website, it is nicer than it was before. some nice photos of her, several videos & interviews & things..
I missed her when she came through DC with Lenny, I may try to catch her elsewhere or

.... Costa's relationship with the artist formerly known as the Artist began when he started covering her "Push & Pull" in concerts a couple of years ago. She eventually joined him onstage for the song, which was filmed for a live DVD.

"That was amazing 'cause I'm such a fan and he's been so cool," Costa said. "[Afterward,] I said, 'I want to write with you on my record,' and he was like, 'Send me a poem.' I said OK and sent him a poem, and he came back and MP3ed me this beautiful kind of jazz thing with him singing it. It's really cool."

The song, titled "Silver Tongue," is more mellow than Costa's typical party tracks, but the rest of the album heads in the opposite direction.

Well, whether Prince contibuted to the album or not, I'm totally looking forward to it (and have been doing so for a long time now) because I absolutely love her previous album.

And thanks for the info, langebleu. I was just about to start a thread to ask what on Earth happened to the long-promised Nikka album, and it sets my heart to rest knowing I'll only have to wait one more month for it.

you may want to join the mailing list originating from the website. they send out news/info when something is happening..

they advised me about her tour with Lenny back in early or mid-March, & I think they've sent info on the new album too

I normally don't travel this route with alleged Prince collaborations, but parts of this track actually sound sort of like his doing. Or is Questlove just doing a good impersonation.

i was reading an article where she indicated she had a full album completed and then scrapped it. the timeframe for the first album would have been when prince, wendy and lisa were in the studio working with her.

such a shame if thats the case. now i know the three of them werent in the studio at the same time but to have them and then not use them?

Lenny Kravitz is playing drums on it but I don't think Prince is on this song. Nikka was on the radio in Detroit and she didn't say anything about Prince being on it (but you never know with Prince since he's so mysterious sometimes). I heard the first version of this CD and a lot of the songs had his sound.
